Capetown Diamond Corporation — Local services in Roswell

A while back, I sent my Rolex DJ into Capetown for service, along with the installation of an 18k gold fluted bezel and a dial with roman numerals. I originally purchased the watch from Tourneau in NY. One of the things that I noticed after buying the watch was that when the winding stem crown was screwed down completely, the crown on the winder lined up perfectly in relation to the watch, and was straight up and down. After Capetown returned my watch, the crown was now lined up sideways, so to speak, after being screwed down completely. I thought that was strange because prior to that the crown on the winding stem was ALWAYS straight up and down, but I thought it might have been the result of replacing the watch dial and bezel. Fast forward to the present. One day I was lightly polishing some scratch marks out of the case and while doing so proceeded to polish the winder crown. While doing so, the top metal piece of the crown came off, exposing plastic underneath! In other words, my original winder was replaced with a cheap replacement winder, maybe from China? Capetown is the only place that has done any work on my watch prior to my purchase of my watch from Tourneau. In fairness, I contacted Capetown a couple of months ago and the person I spoke with was very nice and professional. He sent me a box and asked that I send it in for him to look at, out in California. I hate to say it, but if someone there replaced my winding stem and crown with a cheap plastic replacement, how do I know if they didn't remove my original Rolex movement and replaced it as well? I'm very leery of sending the watch back in, because in my mind I have a serious trust issue because of...

Errol and Jonathan deliver what they promise!

Id like to consider myself a savvy Swiss watch buyer. I am currently the proud owner of 12 lovely watches and yesterday I received lucky number 13 from Capetown Diamond.

When I saw the watch on their website, I called in expecting to negotiate, looking to get the "Best Deal". I spoke with Errol and he was helpful, extremely knowable and guided me to see the value in their Rolex 16710 GMT Master II Pepsi, begin sold as new.

That said, I was convinced I could get a better deal elsewhere, so I went to look in a local shop at what I thought was comparable watch, priced $2,000 lower. Once picking up the "competitions" watch, I could tell instantly it needed work. The movement wound rough, there were extensive scratches on the Steel and the Aluminum Bezel insert needed to be replaced. As I added up the cost of the work in my head, it was roughly $2,000, at least.

I promptly left the store, called back Errol, acknowledged my mistake and bought the watch from Capetown. When it arrived the next day, I was floored. It was picture perfect and could well have been a New Old Stock piece. It looked AS NEW, which was exactly as advertised.

I then called to thank them, confirm delivery and order an extra link. Jonathan said he would ship the link out free of charge. Nice touch, considering I did pay a bit of a premium.

They always say when buying pre-owned Rolex, buy the dealer... I would buy Capetown Diamond again in a heartbeat.
