I would like to start by saying that I am a mother of three girls, who are currently in their teen and pre-teen years. As you may be aware, your store seems to cater to that age group. During a recent visit to Five Below, I felt disgusted by an incident that occurred.
My daughter and I were ready to complete our purchase when an African American associate at the front of the store, assisting with checkout and self-checkout, asked the party in front of us whether they would be paying with cash or card. They responded with cash, and she cheerfully asked them to step forward to the cash register to check them out.
Suddenly, we heard a woman begin to yell and scold the associate. I looked up from my phone at that moment, and the woman continued to shout, "HOW MANY TIMES HAVE I TOLD YOU... DONāT GO UP THERE. I DONāT WANT YOU ANYWHERE NEAR THAT AREA." She repeated these phrases multiple times, as if she were speaking to a child.
Having worked in retail and held a managerial positions, I could never imagine yelling at an associate, especially in front of a number of shoppers. The woman, who had freshly dyed red hair, then stormed off toward the back of the store.
The associate approached me and informed me that I could use the open self-checkout as long as I was paying with a card. I confirmed that I was, and she proceeded to clear out a transaction left by the previous customer. I asked her if the person who spoke to her in that manner was the store manager, she looked frightened and nodded yes. When I asked for the manager's name, the associate hesitated and refused to provide it, likely out of fear of retaliation. I did not press the matter and walked around the store until I located the associate again. She was near the cosmetics area, lollygagging with another associate, a young Hispanic lady. I asked for her name, and she told me it was Farah. I thanked her and walked away.
I never write reviews or reach out to stores to provide feedback, but this crossed a basic line of providing common courtesy to the people working with you. My daughter witnessed this incident and asked why I asked for information. I told her that I know one day she would begin to work, likely in retail while she is in school and I truly hope that someone will speak up for her if she were treated the way this young lady was. Regardless of the position held, no one deserves to be treated the way the young woman was. Aside from that, I fear this "so-called manager" might be treating others this way if not worse. Correctives and guidance should not be provided to associates this way. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Phone case and screen protector which is purchased days before but the case was causing issues with speakers so I wanted A new one. They are doing some changes in back area and electronics etc were blocked off. There was a lady in the back when I approached so I asked Her would I be Able to just grab a case she said no itās construction canāt do it. I said Ok well I know What I need exactly u are back there can u just grab it for me and she said NO!!! No I cant Sell it since itās back here I just Canāt do it ā¦.. Iām like WOW. I was Literally looking at the cases 3ft away from me .
As Iām disappointed and walking towards front to leave I see a guy appears to be off the clock but had on 5below shirt so I say ā excuse me are you off the clock Iām sorry never mind u look like your leavingā¦.ā He says ā Iām never really off the click how may I help You?? ā I tell Him and he said unfortunately you cannot go back there but I can Get what u need no problem since itās just an item or two . EXTREME CUSTOMER SERVICE! This is what will make me drive to Gregās store in Firewheel location before I ever Go back to this location ⦠not only was that not his store but he didnāt have to help me and he chose to. THANK YOU GREG FROM FIREWHEEL 5BELOW for know how to treat customers. The older lady that was on shift around 3:30pm today this 1 star is for you. SMH to you for not simply going the extra mile to make a difference.

The site says 9pm but they are always closed before then. The most recent time I was here as soon as I walked in a girl Associate stated they closed in 30mins I walked straight to the back where the phone cases and screen protectors were. And the girl made an announcement that the store was closing in 5mins. I literally had not been in the store a whole minute yet. Then the girl came to the back to advise me the store was about to close and stood there while I was making my selection like I needed to leave now! I will from now on drive to another location. I came in to grab 2 things and spend $10. That was a harassing trash experience. I really could have acted out but did not want to give my children that kind of experience because they...
