I wanted to express my gratitude to this shelter for taking back a gorgeous and sweet German Shepard whose owner adopted him two months ago. My husband and I had found him roaming around in the street so we took him in for 4 days until the shelter opened and could inform us who his owners were. After reaching out to the owner, they refused to take him back and basically ended up saying either take him to the shelter or let him back outside. Being an avid dog lover (understatement), I obviously brought him back to the shelter as I have two labs and my male lab unfortunately does not get along with other males (or I would have never given him back, it was very tough for me and I was not happy with the decision we had to make). This shelter is at code red but still accepted him and had nothing but wonderful things to say about him. If you have the opportunity, please look on their Facebook page and look for “Patrick.” I promise he will make an impact in your life within days, he has a little heart of gold and will bring you unconditional love and happiness everyday you...
Read moremacy the blonde at the front deak is unnecessarily rude and judgemental. not sure what the attitude is for when im just trying to get a lost dog back to its family. it was not great to be insulted right out of the gate about not having an id, which is annoying on my part but didn’t warrant the hostility, and having to explain that i had forgotten my wallet on the way to shop for groceries. she accused me several times of being the owner and trying to abandon my dog and gave no apology when they found the owner through the microchip, which they suggested i should have checked first as if i were a psycho who carried an expensive microchip reader around instead of being a person whos never dealt with a lost dog before. cant say im surprised at this attitude since ive volunteered with them before and dealt with the negative and unprofessional attitude. 12/23/23, 4:15pm,...
Read moreThis shelter has the most amazing staff & volunteers. They are passionate about the shelter animals, & they do their absolute best to find fosters & adopters. The reason for the 3 stars is bc the facilities are dire. The shelter animals deserve a much better environment inside & out as they may spend several months or years in the shelter. The City of Rowlett is aware of the issues & claim improvements are coming. Actions speak much louder than words, always. As an animal lover, dogs especially, are more often than not, superior to humans; they provide unconditional love, they don't judge, they are loyal, good for your health, increase social interactions, stave off loneliness, keep us active, save lives, offer protection, make us happier, & my favorite, they don't know greed like humans...
