A few generations of our family have been going to Frentz & Son's Hardware since the 1940's. The same family's owned & cared for it since 1931.
Not once have I head anyone say they did not get exceptional service at Frentz. All one has to do is start walking toward the counter in the center of the store and you will either be greeted on the way to the counter or at the counter.
Even on crazy-busy days, people are willing to help. (They multi-task well!) Each person is very knowledgeable about all items and will be happy to suggest a better product or method. It's real advice, too- not some made up stuff like at many hardware stores.
Pricing here is comparable to , or lower than, other local hardware stores. Actually, their prices are often lower than the big box nightmare stores.
Frentz is an ideal place to shop for fasteners. The selection is great and, for most items, you don't have to buy a giant box to get what you need. They sell by-the-piece. Only American Integrated has more fasteners than Frentz, but that's all the sell.
Want something odd? Chances are Frentz has it, or will get it. If you don't see it, ask. While shopping there once, I casually mentioned that I had to stop at Bearing Service for an unusual sized V-Belt. The Frentz guy asked what size, and 2 minutes later, I had a V-Belt. Another time, I needed a spud wrench for a steam trap. Frentz had it. (Bet they sell one per decade, but they had it.)
Their electrical department selection is quite good. The choice of various switch and receptacle plates is a giant wall of treasures. The plumbing aisle is super stocked with a large variety.
Frents & Son's has you covered, no matter what you need. PS: It's a fun place to explore. Next time you're there, look at the floor in the fastener aisle. There are a zillion washers stuck in the floor from the decades....
Read moreLet me start by saying, I am NOT handy. I had a leaky faucet in my bathroom and decided I would try and fix it myself instead of paying a plumber for something considered to be an âeasyâ job. I googled possible problems, knew what I would need and set out to find the solution. I went to Loweâs, Home Depot, Menards, Ace, and a plumbing supply store. I had to chase down associates to help me find what I was looking for, and was told multiple times that they didnât carry what I needed. Finally I found Frentz and Sons. I brought all my unassembled parts like I did everywhere else. I was greeted within a minute, taught the basics of how the parts worked, provided with the parts I needed to replace, AND they put the majority of it back together for me. THEN they told me the possible problems I would run into when piecing it back together in the wall, with solutions. They were informative, helpful and truly went above and beyond to make sure I could stop my leaky faucet. The parts were affordable, and they didnât charge me a penny for the advice. I became a loyal customer to them today and will tell everyone I know about my excellent...
Read moreWhat can I say? This is a great local hardware store and yes they are super helpful. The last time I shopped at this store the guy actually walked me through to the items that I was looking for and is very knowledgeable and educated about their offerings. The only issue I have with this particular store is that I often don't feel like they're going to have everything that I need so there's a lot of times when I just go to Home Depot and not this store but there are times when I do go to this store and I've never been disappointed by the items that I know they do have. For example I needed these little tiny screws for my aluminum awning that hangs off my 1950s house and they actually had these really great little Stainless steel Panhead 1/2 inch screws so I bought a whole box of them (100) that would have not been cheaper at Home Depot and they probably would have only came in two or three per $2 pack and I would have probably spent more money but that's why they have stores like this vs It's Going Home Depot...
