This is a bare bones, no frills store. That's how the chain keeps their prices down, which range from reasonable to amazing. Living on a fixed income, I must be careful with my budget. Shopping at Aldi has helped me squeak by every month. The closest MVRTD bus stop is in front of the Ramada Inn just north of Aldi which is helpful for those of us without working cars.
Come prepared with a quarter if you want to use a shopping cart. Carts are chained together in two cart corrals. To remove a cart, one places a quarter in the slot, which is on the right side of the handle. Once you return the cart and replace the chain, your quarter pops out. This is an ingenious way to make sure carts are returned to the cart corral. For smaller loads, plastic shopping baskets are available inside.
Additionally, bring your own bags. Aldi charges for bags, but sometimes boxes are available for free. Because the store usually functions with a limited, but efficient crew, look for someone stocking shelves. They'll often be filling a large cart with empty boxes.
Wednesday weekly specials often sell-out, so plan on shopping Wednesday or soon after. Aldi carries its own lines of products, the quality of which is comparable to or in some cases, better than more familiar national brands. Sometimes national brands are available at a good price.
The cashiers are some of the fastest I've ever seen. I am often unable to unload my cart before they've rung up everything previously placed on the conveyor belt. Another way Aldi saves money is that customers must bag their own purchases.
Bring some toilet paper, just in case you must use the facilities. Every once in a while, the employees are busy cashiering and can't jump up to replace it. That and the fact that there is no sidewalk connecting Aldi to the bus stop in front of the Ramada Inn are my only two issues with shopping there.
Overall, highly...
Read moreThis was one of the most infuriating and unprofessional experiences I have ever had. I placed a curbside pickup order at the Rutland Aldi, clicked âOn My Wayâ on the app when I was just 2 minutes away, and parked in the designated pickup area as instructed. The app assured me that an associate would be out shortly.
I waited 20 minutes. No one came. I was sick and deliberately chose curbside pickup to avoid going inside, but I had no choice. I tried calling the storeâs contact numberâonly to discover it was disconnected. When I finally walked inside, I spotted an employee who looked like she worked there. I explained Iâd been waiting for 20 minutes for my order, and her response was jaw-droppingly rude. She barked at me with a disgusting attitude, claiming she had been outside waiting for me for 10 minutes.
Her claim made no sense, as she hadnât even asked for my name before saying this. Once she did, she screamed into her walkie-talkie in an obnoxious tone, announcing that âAlyssa was FINALLY here for her order.â
As someone who has consistently used Aldiâs curbside pickup for years without issue, this interaction was beyond unacceptable. The older woman with glasses, grey hair, and a braid should not be interacting with customers in any capacity. Her attitude and behavior were nothing short of disgraceful.
Aldi, you need to address this immediately. I expect better from your team, and I will be rethinking my loyalty to this store if this is how you...
Read moreWell stocked and good fresh quality items but I'm surprised and disappointed to find the prices of things to vary greatly between stores. Even in towns where in think there prices would be lower based on the economics of the area, they're not. Don't get it. Another sort of negative is that not every item you need and look for will be there when you need it. Small stores mean less items and I'm not sure of the logic of what they stock and what they don't. Perhaps it's what sells most or what they think people buy most or perhaps it's what they make the most on. Not sure. Very limited brand names but decent quality proprietary name brand is what's mostly available. Decent quality organic items and the price point is usually better than most grocer outlets. Lines are sometimes long but the cashier's are quicker than any other store. It helps the speed, that they don't pack food in sacks for you but be prepared by bringing your own sacks or grab an empty box from within the store. We go there for price and count-on-able quality. The savings are significant and worth the trip and additional effort and minimal inconvenience of not having everything, you'll find shopping there. The meat quality is mostly good as well. I personally don't enjoy the flavor of the brand of organic ground beef there. Again the prices are right on these products too. The sales and their prices they have of those items,...
