Was extremely disappointed because I have been wanting to this Ghost tour/investigation for several years. We paid the $29 per person (2 of us) for the Ghost stories/investigation on September 23, 2023. When we checked in they said that we could rent a EMF detector for an additional $5, not included in the $29; they should have been included in the price like other, cheaper, Ghost Tours in the area. When the tour began, there were at least 40 people there, so we split into 2 large groups. Our "Guide" told us stories about the lighthouse's keepers and their families and went on to tell us about different claims of "paranormal" activity that people had experienced over the years. With my experience of doing true investigations of the Paranormal, I believe that these claims had been elaborated to make them sound scarier from the original experience and that some of these claims could easily be debunked. She also used the "Phantom shadow" account that "TAPPS" experienced in the lighthouse, but failed to say that on a later visit, they had debunked the "Phantom Experience" as shadow play of their own shadow caused by the light reflection coming in from the outside through the front door of the lighthouse. Very Disappointing to hear that they are using false information on their Ghost Tour. Apart from this, I was still excited to start the investigation. Once the investigation began, it was definitely apparent that there was way too many people wandering around the grounds creating cross-contamination that prevented us from any EVPs, photos from our cameras, or observations of anything moving out of place. If I would have brought my own personal EMF detector, everyone's cell phones would have caused false readings anyways. My wife and checked out the basement where our guide made many claims of Paranormal Activity but again, there were way too many people in that small space....who did not know how to be quiet. We went into the upper story of the house and found the area quiet from any activity. The light house was too crowed to even attempt to investigate. We actually left about 20 minutes after the investigation started because of the large crowd of people made it impossible to conduct any kind of realistic investigation. I have investigated many locations in the south, with successful pictures and evidence but this Dark of the Moon Ghost Tour is not worth the $29, as there are better tours in St Augustine for less money which are more entertaining in...
Read moreI would give this PLACE and the way they have the tour set up 5 stars! The buildings are beautiful and the availability to tour the grounds and investigate on your own is amazing! We loved being able to go up and into the lighthouse at night. Investigating the woods and house was amazing!!! I canât express how much we loved this!!!! They also had food and drinks to purchase while you explore on your own. Which was another A+++!! BUT the tour guide on the other hand. This was the WORST tour guide I have ever seen. Extremely Unknowledgeable about the history and the people of the lighthouse. When asked what year the lighthouse keeper passed she said she wasnât sure she thinks it was 18 something. The second guide that was with her was no help because she didnât know the answer either. Her storyâs were sooooooo long and drawn out. She kept Fidgeting around for the right words and trying to remember what she was going to say. I was starting to get bored and was ready to leave, the only thing that kept me there was knowing that we would soon be set free from this horrible Uninformative Vague information we were receiving. At one point of the tour she poked fun of another ghost tour in Saint Augustine that is known for Dressing up and jump scaring you. We went on this tour as well and the tour guides may be a little cheesy but at least they know their history and know what their talking about! Do yourself a favor and call ahead to see how long your tour guide has been working at...
Read moreI don't normally leave poor reviews, but this "tour" was very frustrating to experience. When you pay for a tour, you expect your guide to be enthusiastic and charismatic. And you'd probably expect to get a little more of a tour - not just being shuffled through two rooms in COMPLETE and utter darkness (couldn't see where you were stepping) at the keeper's house and eventually taken into the lighthouse. There were a LOT of people on our particular tour, so it was stuffy and cramped the entire time - not good if you're claustrophobic. Our guide, although I'm sure a lovely person, should simply not be a professional guide. The stories told were very robotic, almost as if being read off a script, and very monotone. Even those people who rented EMF meters to experience ghost activity were probably disappointed because when we they started getting some activity on the meters and supposed ghostly responses, the guide moved us down to the basement for the next portion. Clearly on a tight schedule. We were looking forward to the Dark of the Moon Ghost tour becuase it was one of the only "fun" things we booked on our itinerary for Saint Augustine, and I love hearing haunted tales, but it actually ended up being the thing we regretted showing up for. Made me feel like I...
