Spent the weekend in St Augustine area with some family and she likes this place so we went for dinner, It was more of a higher end nice for a date night or first date kind of place. Great service. Nice portions nice looking place in a strip mall. Next our to a pizza place and a Hurricanes grill, We went with the Ahi Tuna dinner with was tasty and fresh Also went with the Paella seafood with chicken and sausage. Unfortunately, they were out of clams, so none in the meal, only muscles and shrimp. chicken and fish. and Chopped up sausage. Could not tell what kind. There was not much flavor in the pallela, but the Ahi Tuna was great! We started with a shrimp bisque, just ok needed more shrimp but tasty and a nice salad.

Second time eating at The Purple Olive. We took advantage of the prix fixed menu today and the food was outstanding. We started with the romaine salad which was crisp and fresh. We ordered short ribs and salmon for our entrees both were delicious and the desserts were amazing! We got the key lime pie, chocolate ganache cake, and crème brûlée. You can’t go wrong with any menu item. Our server was Emmitt, he greeted us with a smile, knew the menu inside out and was very responsive to all of our needs. I let him choose our desserts and his recommendations were spot on. The Purple Olive is our new fav in St. A!!

Party of 8 for dinner last night. Everything, and I mean everything, was delicious. Picasso made sure everything was just right before seating us. Our server, Emmet, was friendly and attentive. We had the bread service, the Brie and the roasted olives as apps and every plate was wiped clean. Pictured is my dinner, Gorgonzola crusted bone in pork chop with mashed potatoes and grilled zucchini. It was so good. Others in our party had the chicken Parm, braised short ribs, ginger soy tofu, paella, salmon and the scallops. They were all winners! Reservations suggested and totally worth it!

The items I tried - The Tuscan lentil soup, beet salad, sesame-crusted tofu and the decadent chocolate bomb were undeniable highlights, each dish a symphony of flavors and textures. My favorite was the Sesame Crusted Tofu with Jasmine Rice & Wok Seared Vegetables! The Macadamia crusted halibut was also outstanding.

Trio Dips - Hummus Tahini, Olive Tapenade, Romesco, Naan Bread, Carrot Chips

Bomb. Chocolate Bomb- Molded Vegan Chocolate Mousse with Fresh Seasonal Fruit. Cream brulee made my taste buds thank...

EDIT— Purple Olive catered our wedding on 10.22.21- I wish I could give them less than 1 star which is so sad because originally I gave them 5! Our initial experience at the taste testing (read below) was wonderful and FAR from what we experienced after the tasting experience. Peter, the owner lacked communication- it took weeks and weeks of begging for a contract (and many errors on the menu). Once we finally had an agreement in place Peter decided he didn’t want to do our wedding anymore because a larger paycheck was available for him on the same day. After expressing how WRONG this was to him via phone he sent a text stating “you’re right, we will proceed as initially agreed.” Over the months the communication was so poor on his end we didn’t know if he would even show for our big day. We spoke to the venue about his behavior and provided all email chains/texts and proof of phone calls and they were shocked. Come our wedding day (last Friday) the food was NOTHING LIKE WE TASTED at our initial taste testing… the appetizers were all cold during our cocktail hour, the chicken was so dry (we had guests complain about it) and the eggplant parmesan was not eggplant Parmesan!!! They took a cheap way out and served eggplant gnocchi….. and it was BURNT. The staff members told our guests to just scrape off the burnt pieces. All of our food was a huge disappointment and we were so saddened by this experience.

I HIGHLY encourage you NOT to book an event with Purple Olive.

Original post prior to wedding- Absolutely delicious food. My family and I went over the weekend for a tasting for our wedding. Each dish was cooked perfectly from the temperature to the seasoning.

The staff was very nice and we look forward to having Purple Olive cater...

I used Purple Olive catering for my wedding last week and was highly disappointed. From the start Chef Peter was hard to get in contact with from setting up tastings to making menu changes. I had to email him several times to get a response. The venue I had my wedding and reception only works with certain caterers and out of the 4 they had on their list I thought Purple Olive was the best choice. Oh was I wrong. Day of the wedding there were a few issues… the main one being that Chef Peter served prime rib instead of the filet mignon that was agreed upon in our contract. When I emailed the chef about this he claimed that it was indeed filet mignon. I expressed that all 80 guests agreed that it was prime rib even the staff member he sent to serve us stated it was prime rib. Also we ordered shrimp etouffee and was served jambalaya. Chef Peter did not offer any remedy for the meat mix up but kept insisting we didn’t know our beef which was an insult in its own. An event as special as our wedding day the least he could have done was apologize for the mix up but he was so concerned of the cost of beef and refunding the difference that he kept insisting that all 80 of my guests didn’t know the difference between prime rib and filet mignon. I know I’m only 1 customer to his many and my review may or may not make a difference but consider it before trusting this company with your...
