We were staying in the area, wanted something close and needed coffee! We saw this place had good reviews and decided to check it out. We had the option of sitting inside or out so we picked outside since it was such a nice morning. The inside was kinda small, close quarters. The name of this place is Sheila's Cafe aka Anastasia kitchen. It has 3 (Three) picnic benches + one round table outside. If it gets cold there's a portable propane heater outside. We didn't have to wait to be seated. The waitress Nicole was very friendly and she recommended a few things on the menu. One of them was quiche, which I haven't had in years. I'm so glad she said something bcz I would have just ordered eggs or chocolate chip pancakes (my favorite) but I went with the quiche plus home fries based on her suggestion and coffee. Nicole must have filled my coffee cup like 5 times. Thanks for the caffeine boost. Hubby had a grilled bagel and home fries plus a Coke, which came in a can. We were so happy with our food and our experience there. We'd definitely go back. NOTE: Bring cash. They don't accept credit cards.
Update: we enjoyed the food so very much that we went back again on Wednesday since they were closed on Tuesday. This time we had a hot ham and cheese on Texas toast, a can of Coke, quiche (spinach + feta) with home fries and a side of just one chocolate chip pancake. And coffee, lots of coffee. We enjoyed it very much and will come back next time we're in the area. There is parking out front.
Another update: before leaving town we had to get our fix so we stopped in for more quiche (crabmeat today), home fries, coffee, hot ham and cheese on Texas toast, a can of Coke. Was not disappointed! That's my creamer I brought with me- it's only available during the holidays.
We hope to go back to...
Read moreI’m never one to complain, I get being busy- we have a party of 4 (2 kids), I get the restaurant is small but.. we waited for close to 25mins for them to come and take our order (?) and each time we made eye contact with the waitress, she just apologized saying people were cashing out, or that she was dropping off food, or the kitchen was busy.. again, I get that but just come and take our very simplistic order at least get it written down so it can be in line. Couple waiting in line behind us got their order taken first, food first.. (I’m assuming) a regular came in, they serviced him right away.. by this time we were there for close to 50mins, our food finally came out (waffle & 2 egg bowls) and about 2 mins later the “regulars” food came out. Also, someone from the kitchen came out to do something for another guest next to us and tripped over my babies high chair- jolted my baby.. apologizes to the guy she was going to, turns around and says “cute baby” and walks away.. WTH.. We were sat by the kitchen and listened to the staff complain & argue for the hour and a half we sat there for.. just doesn’t seem to be family friendly enough to bring young kids, or a place to eat and leave (under an hour). Food was decent enough, but probably not someplace we’d chose to...
Read moreWe wanted to get some breakfast after visiting the farmers market and found this quaint little spot close by. It has a few tables inside and outside. We were seated right away, but after being there for 15 minutes, there was already a wait, but it was well worth it. Everything is homemade, including the cinnamon roll and sometimes the rare offering of a glazed old-fashioned donut. Which I got as an appetizer. Is it wrong to have an appetizer at breakfast? I don't want to be right if it is. The donut was freshly made to order. It was warm. I recommend it. I asked the waitress for a recommendation she said the biscuits and gravy. She also mentioned that she was a bit of a connoisseur in the arts of the gravy ala biscuit and this version is one of her all-time favorites. She wasn't wrong. I ordered the scrumptious dish with two eggs over easy with the home fries extra crispy. It was perfect not too thick of gravy and believe it or not it was heavy in the gut. My wife ordered the Sheila's special skillet with jalapeños and no onions. It was also great. They have canned coke products and the typical breakfast beverage offerings. Service was great too. Will...
