Unbelievable service. I had left our family vacation early with our dog and after a couple of hours driving I blew a tire. We were in the middle of nowhere and I had no choice but to change the tire myself. When I finally got the tire off and grabbed the temporary spare I discovered it to was flat. I called Ford Roadside Assistance and they contacted George's Body Shop. About 45 minutes later Lance showed up with a compressed air tank. After filling my spare we learned that the valve stem was bad and it would not hold air. Lance called his shop and had a truck come out to tow us and then left to tend to another traveler in distress. About a half an hour later Joey came to tow us driving a flat bed with a pickup on the back. After backing up to hook us up to tow behind he realized a necessary part was missing and he could not hook us up. He called Lance who came back and picked up me and my dog and took us back to his shop. My tire is an oddball size and there was not a tire in that size anywhere near where we were. Lance called all of the tire stores for miles with no luck. He ended up finding one in Cadillac MI that could be delivered the next day. Lance then called four different motels trying to get me the best rate then apologized that the best he could find was $80.00 with a pet. He then drove me to the motel, on the way I asked if we were going to pass a liquor store, (at this point I was ready for a drink), and there was not so Lance turned around and took me to a store and watched my dog while I ran in. When I came out I tried to give him $20.00 for going out of his way and he would not accept it. When we got to the motel Lance helped me carry my things in. The next morning I got a call from his office person (also very nice) to tell me my tire was replaced and that Lance would be there in 20 minutes. Sure enough, 20 minutes later he showed up in my car. In addition to all of this, when I finally got home I shopped on-line for the tire he had to replace mine with as it was not the same brand as the others and found that he charged me the exact price that I would pay for the same tire at the car dealership I work at. He had every opportunity to gouge a stranded traveler and didn't. I can not express my gratitude strongly enough. Thank you Lance, Joey, and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreA friend was traveling through & broke down about 30 miles from St. Ignace. We had the vehicle towed here, but upon calling to follow up after 3 business days of no updates on a very expensive transmission repair, my friend received extremely unprofessional service characterized by completely unwarranted explicit language and threatening to ālet it sitā if we kept calling to check on it. Lance evidently believes this is an acceptable way to do business, and Iām embarrassed that this is how. a Yooper business is operating. I have never left a negative review for a business before, but hope this will alert others to think twice before spending their hard-earned money here.
Tri County Motors in Rudyard (who my family has used regularly and we knew had professionalism and exceptional service) was able to take the vehicle. When I called to have a local company tow it a second time, an auto professional familiar with the area said that this issue of rude behavior and not treating customers fairly is unfortunately extremely common with Georgeās and that he has had to move vehicles a second time after initially bringing them here to be fixed. Not a great track record to have in a small town.
Also, I see Lance trying to comment on negative reviews to try and āresolve this issueā but please do not waste your time. Just file this review for future reference - if a customer shares with you that they are hospitalized out of state and receiving treatment for a brain tumor, the best move is probably not to double down on being a jerk and yelling at them for wanting to know what is happening with their vehicle after theyāve had it in your shop for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI donāt typically leave reviews but felt this was completely inappropriate and should be shared. Please be aware that if you receive service from this place, particularly for their U-Haul services, then you may be met with an impolite customer service experience. I utilized the U-Haul app to confirm my reservation to pickup a 26 foot U-Haul truck on Sunday, 7/20. The after hours key box was inaccessible with the codes that were provided in the app. I contacted U-Haul and the secondary codes they provided me with were also incorrect. I contacted Georgeās and who I am assuming is George himself answered. During this initial phone call, he was quite pleasant. He stated that he would reach out to someone to see if someone could come assist me and would return my call. A few minutes later, he called back and was quite angry. He asked if I was going to āstick aroundā and that he was going to be coming into town in about 15-20 minutes and he could come open the box but he wasnāt going to waste his time if I wasnāt going to stick around because he ādoesnāt get paid for this shit on a Sunday.ā Do not offer this service if you do not want to handle issues after hours. And why ask if Iām going to stick around? How inappropriate as a proprietor. I had already been preauthorized over $500 by U-Haul - certainly Iām going to stick around and donāt need to be swore at to do so. Steer clear and utilize Andyās in Cheboygan for your U-Haul needs. The owner of that establishment has always been courteous in the past, sorry I canāt say the same...
