Beach Zone — Local services in Saint Pete Beach

This review is not about the store itself, but more about the employees working there. I went in the store late Monday afternoon (5/11/20) to buy a beach chair and umbrella, which amounted to $80. I realized after I left, I accidentally left my sunglasses there. I called immediately and the girl who was working, who was very nice, said she found them and put them behind the front desk for me so I can come pick them up. My boyfriend went Wednesday morning at 10am (5/13/20) to get the sunglasses and was told they were no longer there. The 2 girls working were extremely rude and did not want to help with figuring out where they could be. They did not want to call the girl that worked Monday or help at all, all they kept saying was, “well they aren’t here”. When I called on the phone, she tells me, “I told your boyfriend already we don’t have them, I don’t know what you don’t understand, it’s been 3 days they aren’t here”. I told her that they were placed there Monday night and it hasn’t been 3 days, maybe someone took them. Her response, “girl no one stole your sunglasses, get off my phone”, and she hung up on me. It wasn’t even 48 hours or 2 days, let alone the 3 she kept saying. Do they have a policy that after 3 days they can keep your belongings that were left? Extremely poor service considering a good pair of sunglasses were left there, which I know is my fault, but they were very rude and unwilling to help. This experience today makes me think they were stolen by an employee, especially If they were left behind the front desk, which only employees have access too. They proceeded to call the police on my boyfriend “for trespassing” when we were just trying to figure out where MY sunglasses were that we were told would be there. Poor attitudes and customer service. So many other swim shops nearby to give your business to, don’t waste your time here being treated rudely when your money is valuable. I’m willing to pay high prices for nice things, but as a local I’m not desperate to buy stuff from this store just because it’s near a hotel. Spent $350 on items here yesterday and got attitude today because I wanted to exchange some unworn child flip flops for a different size, which there is no posted policy on all shoes being final sale. The signage around the store about ruining someone’s life tells you all you need to know lol and heaven forbid you ask to use the restroom (the sign says “NO NO NO”). Yesterday I had to interrupt the socializing workers to get their attention to ring me up, today the worker was busy hawking the cameras looking for potential thieves instead of assisting legitimate shoppers. It’s $0 to just speak to someone kindly, so I think I will take my money...

I love stopping in here when I'm in the area. Although prices aren't cheap they are better than some other beach shops. Very good selection of t's, swim suits, souvenirs. My only suggestion is that the staff should be welcoming people when they arrive. Today one of the employees walked around rather loudly on her phone chatting the whole time I shopped. To be fair both places I shopped at today didn't have a welcoming entrance. No one says hi, can I help you. Interesting how times have changed. That's why I didn't give any less stars since it's all over at retail locations. Customer service is hard to come by. It's still worth going to this location for the selection. You'll find...
