Horrible customer service and just a general lack of class or sense of common courtesy to customers. Moving customers around in the middle of their dining experience against their wishes, rudely touching customers in some pushy effort to make things happen with seating which should have been addressed before anyone is sat and ESPECIALLY not once someone is already seated and dining. Come on people this is basic customer service 101 stuff. There was one nice young man working as a bus boy and another nice young girl working the floor; otherwise management and even the owner was out of their element in the world of dining and people skills. Beyond all this I hear the pastries are great but after having been served lukewarm / cold quiche, reheated and retuned with ZERO apology or acknowledgement that maybe that’s not our best effort, then rudely accosted for moving tables YET AGAIN in the middle of dining - well needless to say I didn’t try the pastries. I might be willing to give a local place another chance but rather than accept their errors or at least give a “fake apology” as we have all had to do in this business - the owner stood by her establishment rudely touching and treating customers this way and made no effort to right the ship of poor quality coming out of her kitchen. If it were my place I’m pretty sure I’d be ashamed, not to mention begging for another chance to get it right/. No sense of French class or finesse coming from this beach...
Read moreWhen I began my review, my touchpad clicked on 3 stars in error. Ignore the 4.8 because every other review before mine was 5 stars, and mine is as well. I have travelled the world, yet I have never tasted such perfect quiche. The yummy, flaky crust had just the right amount of butter to support the delicate treasure it cradled without feeling loose or tasting overdone. The food was so remarkable that the three of us could not resist sharing, and we all came away, raving about the food, the perfect service, (all served in such a pleasant and timely manner) as well as the atmosphere. The music was at the perfect sound level, so we could enjoy our conversation. The coffees were great as well.
I had the arugula, fig and brie croissant, and took home the dessert croissants for friends and one for myself for tomorrow. It was just sublime, with a balanced blend of sweet and salty. I highly recommend it. They offer a fruit, (ours was watermelon) or a salad with the meal. Even the watermelon was perfect. Next time, as I work my way through the entire menu, I will order the quiche, which truly was amazing.
Cafe Soleil is my new favorite place in all of Florida. What a joy to finally find a place with gourmet food and savoir faire in...
Read moreThis place literally saved our family vacation from the UK! Found this cafe by pure chance on the second morning of our holiday in Florida. We had planned to travel South from Tampa but Mary ?? told us about the algae blooms affecting much of the coastline south of Sarasota. She advised us where to go that wasn't affected (and where to eat) and we had the best holiday ever!
As for the actual cafe itself, it's clean, petite & bijou. The croissants & pastries are to die for. The lemon fan & almond pastries were delicious, all cooked fresh. And the kids declared the hot chocolate to be the best they've ever had, my wife also loved her salad. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and recognized us when we made a point of returning on the last day of our trip. The menu isn't vast but that means they excel at what they do serve and so it's better for it.
If we ever return to St. Pete's I pray that Cafe Soleil is still here, it's a real credit to the...
