🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨
I recently visited Skidders Restaurant and unfortunately, I had an extremely disappointing experience. The quality of the food and the service left much to be desired. It pains me to write this scathing review, but I feel it is necessary to convey the extent of my dissatisfaction.
Let me start with the main issue that ruined my dining experience: the food. I ordered a meat dish, and to my dismay, it arrived at the table completely undercooked and inedible. The meat was so raw that it was practically still mooing. It was not only unappetizing but also a health hazard. I was shocked and appalled that such a gross oversight could occur in a supposedly reputable establishment. The quality of the ingredients clearly did not meet basic standards of freshness and safety. It was clear that the kitchen was not properly handling the food, which is completely unacceptable.
Adding insult to injury, the staff's response to my complaint was even more disappointing. Instead of offering a sincere apology and handling the situation with professionalism, the new staff members displayed a rude and dismissive attitude. They seemed to brush off my concerns as if they were inconsequential. Their lack of empathy and customer service skills only added to the overall negative experience. It was evident that there had been a complete turnover in the staff, and the new team lacked the experience and dedication that I had previously encountered at Skidders.
I have been a longtime patron of Skidders Restaurant and have enjoyed many memorable meals there in the past. It is truly disheartening to witness such a decline in both the quality of the food and the standard of service. The drastic change in the staff dynamics was palpable, and it negatively impacted the entire atmosphere of the restaurant.
In conclusion, my visit to Skidders Restaurant was an utterly disappointing and unpleasant experience. The unpalatable food, coupled with the disrespectful attitude of the new staff, has led me to reconsider returning to the restaurant in the future. As a loyal customer, I had high expectations for Skidders, and it deeply saddens me to have to write such a negative review. I sincerely hope that the management takes immediate measures to rectify these issues and restore the reputation of Skidders Restaurant to its...
Read moreWe had been regular visitors to Orlando Florida for many years prior to Covid and just started our visits again. Many years ago we got married on the beach down here and also discovered Skidders. It was family run with pride evident in the food, atmosphere and service. The place was always full and most people left with food packed in a container because the servings were so large. We drove down from Orlando every trip just to experience the event of a meal at Skidders, even if we drove back the same day. Today we drove down from the condo in Orlando to have supper at Skidders. We were shocked to see that there were only a handful of customers inside instead of a line up to get in. We were seated quickly and then Anna, our server came by and introduced herself. She was a fantastic waitress and would be an asset in any restaurant. Sadly the food was a major disappointment as was the very empty atmosphere. The scallops that I ordered were very good as were the 6 asparagus served with them. But my Greek salad was a plate piled with lettuce, 2 pieces of tomato, maybe 6 olives, 2 slices of cucumber, 1 slice of red onion 4 pieces of green pepper and a very small portion of a vinegarette. A Greek salad this was not. My wife ordered chicken souvlaki and Greek salad. She got a pile of lettuce with only 1 piece of tomato, white onion, 5 or 6 olives, 3 or 4 pieces of green pepper, 2 pieces of feta cheese and Zero slices of cucumber. Less of a Greek salad than mine was. Her chicken was so dry that she left a large amount. She actually walked out of Skidders hungry as well as sad and disappointed. We now knew why the place was so empty. I told my wife that the original family could not be involved any longer. When I asked someone when the place was sold I was informed that it happened in January. Hard to believe that a place could go down hill so fast. The only bright spot of the sad...
Read moreI am so disappointed to have to update this review, but after two visits since Skidders has new ownership, I feel the need to. I'm not sure how long this place will remain open because it is rather empty both times we went in. The menu is condensed but still had our favorites on it, which was a plus. The service under old management was stellar; however, that just isn't the case anymore. We came in yesterday and sat at our table with no one coming over or acknowledging us for awhile. Finally, the bartender said something and took our order. We observed several guys come in and wait at the front door with no one acknowledging them. They then went to the bar and sat down with what we think is the manager not acknowledging them for a bit even though he was in the bar area. Our two favorite menu items were also sub-par. The pizza was burnt on the bottom, and the French onion soup was missing the bread, so the cheese just sank to the bottom, and they didn't even say anything about it.
After visiting twice since new ownership, this is no longer our "go-to spot". We encourage management to first carefully review their service strategy and second to make sure their food quality is consistent. If those two things were upgraded, they would have a shot in getting us to visit again. Or just bring Peter back to manage it. He was the life of the restaurant before.
Review left 3 years ago: I can't say enough about this place!! We have a timeshare at the Tradewinds (across the street) so are there often. We eat at Skidders atleast once every trip and one weekend we ate there three times. First, every single waitress and staff member bust it to clean tables, take orders and deliver food. Second, the food is awesome. For breakfast, try the country fried steak and substitute the home fries for their potato pancakes. For appetizer, try the jalapeño poppers and for dinner try their pizza...
