They will over charge you for used jewelry and act like theyre giving you a deal when theyre not. They will coax you to put a down payment on an item and tell you "if you change your mind you can move the money to a different piece no problem"
I went in to make the switch and the salesman who offered me the "deal" acted like i was invisible when i told david that he was the one who told me i could move my money to another item. David wanted me to put more money down instead of using the down payment to buy something else. His reason being because i came back a year later and his contract says you have to make payments and get charged interest but hes waiving that so i should work with him like how he did for me. I was never given a contract to sign when i put my deposit down or made aware of any of this, just given a ticket and a verbal asurance that "you can switch to something else, no problem at any time". I had to haggle for 30 mins just to move my money to something else and they overcharged me for it because i had already given them money at this point and could either continue making payments on the old item or get overcharged for the new item i wanted. A refund wasnt possible for me.
Beware of the "deals" they offer because they will switch up on you. Know the value of what youre buying because they, like 99% of jewelers will overcharge you for your ignorance.
Theres a cost for the weight of the gold you're buying. Ex: 100g of 10k gold is worth $3,529 (at the time of me writing this review. Gold & silver prices go up and down all the time). Thats how much your jewelry piece is worth if you ever decide to sell it TO ANY PAWN SHOP OR JEWELER. YOU wont pay that for the jewelry piece you're buying because it costs the store to create the item you're buying, run their store, pay employees and source the materials.
Davids Jewelers will charge you a high markup even though they did not create the item they're selling and the item is sometimes bought and sold back to the store 2 or 3 times with visible scratches. Ive witnessed friends do this. Whatever they sold back to Davids goes right back into the case for the next person to buy at whatever price they want to charge. Anyway, the high markup they charge is for their overhead cost but MAINLY FOR THE EMPLOYEES COMMISSION.
Now you know how they run their operation and have a leg up on negotiating with them or any other jeweler.
Find out the weight of the gold in the jewelry piece youre buying, find out the karat, then calculate how much the weight of the gold in that karat costs and then negotiate from there. Google a gold scrap calculator to help you. If theyre charging you double or triple the price of the weight in gold then youre getting ROBBED. Same goes for silver.
If you have diamonds in your piece then you have to negotiate differently....
