An employee who brought groceries out to my car for drive up service actually slammed my trunk in retaliation for me politely waving her around to the driver’s side of the car to see the code on my phone because my back was aching too much to lean over to hold my phone up to the passenger window. So I let down the passenger window as she walked away and I politely explained that I had wanted her to come to the driver’s side because it hurt my back to bend over to the side. With a confrontational tone of voice she rudely said to me, “You could have just rolled down your window!” I replied that I thought that was rude and that she had a bad attitude. She said, “YOU have a bad attitude!!!” The management of this store has no control over what these employees do. They clearly hire people who do not have the personality for customer service. Target Corporate should start making changes in this store before an irresponsible employee with a hostile attitude like the hostility that this employee showed me today slams the trunk and causes immediate and obvious damages to someone’s car, or rudely mouths off to a customer when there’s a witness who will gladly help report it to management. But management must be part of the problem. The employees at this store think that they can get away with saying and do anything they please and intimidate customers with the kind of hostility and aggression that was shown to me today by a Target employee and get away with it. Clearly the management of the store has zero control over what employees do on the premises and how they treat customers, and clearly the management is not effective at correcting it. This store is also really bad about leaving items out of your order and you don’t find out until you get home. The management of this store hires rude, hostile, irresponsible young people who have no professionalism or customer service skills, and who apparently have trouble accurately pulling an order from the shelves. The management of this store clearly does not attract and retain good talent. The Pinellas Park Target a few miles away provides excellent, respectful, cheerful, and accurate customer service, but they are frequently out of grocery items. Target Corporate needs to make some changes at the Gateway store.
Here’s my review of this store from over a year ago—not much has changed: As many applicants as Target has, you would think they could narrow it down to ONLY hiring people who want to cheerfully help EVERY customer instead of treating people like they don’t belong there. Had the rudest cashier who refused to speak to me. He just treated me like I was sub-human and didn’t even deserve a response to a simple question. Really, Target! Hire for character and train the rest!
Edit: I have more to add. I have talked to management several times and nothing changes at this store. They have a few great employees, some of whom seem not to stay very long, and the majority of the employees who stay long-term are the ones who have no concept of respecting personal property such as your vehicle, and the staff who select the food products you order will absolutely include rotten slimy molded decaying vegetables that smell like sewage. And there’s no quality control on it. They don’t follow instructions in the app for which side of the car to come to and if your tailgate comes down to your bumper the employees of this Target are so lazy they will drag bags of groceries against your bumper. In other words if it’s not a chrome bumper they will gladly scratch it up with no remorse or accountability. The management is absolutely incompetent about hiring people who aren’t sociopathic and getting their employees to show basic respect for human beings and vehicles.
They always always always blame customers for everything. That’s a sign that this store specializes in sociopathic customer “service.” These are some of the most hateful people under one roof in Tampa Bay.
The corporate office doesn’t care. Customers should not be the ones who have to adapt to...
Read moreCan I just ask... what is the point of purchasing an order for in store pick up when you go to the store to pick up your item and the Target associate says “Ohhh yeah, we don’t have that. It must have sold out before we could fulfill your order.” I 100% do not get this and find it COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE when it said there were 3 items in stock at the time of my purchase and I was already charged for it. The associate then suggested me driving to another Target completely across town and said “It looks like there is one there”, but when I checked myself, it showed sold out. I received ZERO notification of my purchase no longer being available and found that the customer service pertaining to this matter was far from accommodating. Before leaving to drive to this particular store, which is not close to me by any means, I double checked the app to make sure I was going to the correct Target and there was not one indication notifying me that the item would not be there. This is poor, zero star, horrendous service. I understand things happen but to give such a poor excuse especially after you even state, “If you need to make a change to your order, move fast because we process orders quickly”, it’s far beyond understanding. Great job Target, way to make an already stressful time of year...
Read moreTarget just isn't what it used to be 15 years ago. I don't even shop clothing accessories and shoes I feel they are not good quality at all and poor design. The store brands are often priced as much as the name brand. And I find often in the food section there are more exotic items than good wholesome familiar everyday choices. For example they have all albacore tuna absolutely no yellowfin tuna whatsoever. It's hard just to find a can of regular pork and beans or chili beans etc. The only section that I am please with usually is the produce has good prices on things and good quality if even if the selection is small. Also watch out in all stores for all health and beauty and even food there has been mass reformulations of products over the last year. Even name brands like Cetaphil and Aveeno and shampoos are using cheaper ingredients. They have stopped using shea butter and are using mineral oil for example. And the sodium content on almost every food has gone way up to prevent spoilage I guess but it's...
