Very dissappointed today. I am a regular customer here almost everyweek. I even bring my work crew here for lunch meetings to help business knowing the company for years. Today we ordered 5 sandwiches and they messed up the one sandwich made for the child in our group. Just a plain cheesesteak no onions. It happens and in wasnt very up set at all. So we called to get the replacement sandwich/ switch out the wrong one. Instead of helping out. The person on phone wrote it down wrong and pushed the blame on us. So i asked if we can remake the children steak sandwich correctly as they have an allergy. They hung up the phone on us and said it wasnt there fault. I am confused as we ordered here a lot and always order the same plain sandwich and the phone screen messed up writing it down. Now i have paid for a sandwich not being able to eaten and they have not helped us at all. Again very disappointent/sad as former owner wouldnt of treated us this way and hung up on us. Boggled how rude...
Read moreMy son brought me a pastrami sandwich on marble rye that was piled with slaw, all hot and steamy. He loves his mama. Once, he brought me a pastrami sandwich from the Lucky Dill in downtown Saint Petersburg, so I looked at this offering with a raised eyebrow, but I grabbed half the sandwich and took a bite and O. M. You see, the Lucky Dill sandwich was huge. More pastrami than any normal person should eat in one sitting. And the taste was absent. And the bread fell apart after the first bite. And it was generally disappointing.
The Big Steins sandwich, on the other hand, was perfectly hot and had delightful notes of garlic and pickling spices and that black crusty edge that you can only find on REAL pastrami. The slaw had just enough juice that mingled with the pastrami juices and the marble rye held up like a trooper. This was by FAR the best hot pastrami sandwich I've had since I left New York.
I intend to return soon, since they're practically my neighbors, and try out the rest...
Read moreI would have thought that this Ma and Pa deli would have had better hospitality! Nope, not here, rude and unprofessional! I walked into this deli and was not greeted or spoken to at all, they actually looked at me as if I was not supposed to be there, both the lady in the back preparing sandwiches and man in the front taking orders. I am so glad that I have many choices as to where I can spend my money In better establishments that appreciates ALL of their patrons, not just the ones that look like them! Sad to say that a professional colleague recommended this deli. He would have been more received than me as his skin is a little lighter than mine. Big Stein’s could only survive in St Pete! News Flash it’s a different world with diversity and plenty of options! I would NOT recommend this place to anyone and I am almost 100 percent sure that the employees/owners would not be open to cultural ...
