Roberta's — Local services in Saint Simons

My mom and I have been spending the holidays in the St Simons area for years and shopping at Roberta’s has become an annual tradition we look forward to each visit. But I had such a negative experience here last week that I will never be able to shop there again. I had been in the store shopping for well over an hour and was at the register checking out. I spent $250, paying $100 cash and putting the rest on my card. Evidently they use an old school commerce system because the shop girl had to do the credit card entry separate from the register. When she gave me the CC slip to sign I saw that she had entered the FULL amount on my credit card. I alerted her to this error and she said she would have to void and do it again. I NEVER should have agreed to this because it put TWO charges on my card totaling $400!! Instead of the $150. But the worst part was when she did the void slip and gave it to me to sign some woman who I had NEVER seen in the whole time I was there showed up and started fussing at me about that it had to be signed in red pen after I signed with the black pen the girl gave me. I did not hear her, or know her, and she snapped at me “I told you 3 times!” I could not believe a customer who just spent all that money would be spoken to in such a nasty way! I walked out with such a nasty taste in my mouth I will never return! Also it’s been 5 business days and the charge still has not come off!!! Will never shop in this horrible place again! Was shopping at the store with family and my children were sitting on the little bench by the door in the inside talking amougst themselves then I heard a lady loudly and quite rudely yelling for someone to leave the store. I turned around to see that the sales associate (older lady) was yelling at my kids to leave the store simply because the were talking and sitting on the bench inside “her store soaking up her AC” (her words). My sister and I both turned around and told the woman to not speak to our children in the manner and to not instruct anyone’s kids ever especially to leave the store. She was very rude and out of line by all means. From the other reviews I read of this store she apparently has a problem with any of God’s beautiful child coming into “her” store and maybe retail, esp a store that does sell children’s items, may not be the appropriate line of work for her. I will def not ever shop in this store again and will pray for this woman who apparently has a lot of hate...

I rarely leave reviews, but I felt compelled to share this experience. My mom, whom I don’t see often, visited me this weekend, and we were excited to shop together. She took me into this store where she had purchased a baby outfit for me 27 years ago. Unfortunately, our enjoyable day was marred by an extremely rude store associate. The associate insisted that my mom could not bring her unopened coffee into the store, despite the fact that the coffee contained sugar she needs for a medical condition. When my mom told her, “that’s okay. I was about to spend some more money in here” the associate responded with “have a good day” This lack of understanding and courtesy made us both feel very unwelcome.
