I was in tonight with my 3 daughters. Nobody greeted us. No problem. We were browsing around and looking at some bracelets and I was considering purchasing a necklace for my middle daughter’s birthday in a week. This young girl then came up and said “be careful with that”. I turned to look at her - I am a grown woman and my three kids - two of which are teens were standing with me not doing anything inappropriate. I was shocked. That was the service interaction you chose to have with us? Did I mention my daughters were the only non-white customers in the store? I told them we would purchase our souvenirs elsewhere and we left. Not one positive or service-oriented word from anyone. What a disappointing interaction for our last night at the island.
Follow up: Tanya: I want to be clear - it wasn’t the absence of a greeting that bothered me. It was the fact that the only interaction I had with your staff was to be admonished by a young person to “be careful” for looking at your merchandise. There was no reason for her to think we were not being careful. We weren't doing anything different than we have done in any other store or than any other shoppers were doing...
Read moreI have shopped at Tonya's for many years during my trip to St. Simons for the GA/FL game. I bought a pair of earrings that they told me they make there. The dangle G on the earring fell off. When I took them back, they said they had heard this several times before. However, they refused to swap, refund or gift card because they said that is their policy. Very disappointing. It's not a matter of the money, it's just a bad policy and makes me want to never shop there again. There are so many cute boutiques in St. Simons that can fill my shopping needs with much better customer service! Having owned my own business for 13 years I don't ever like posting a negative review and have very rarely needed to, but I felt like people should know about their lack of customer service. This was the 2nd time this had happened with the same make earrings. Considering your staff admitted this had happened to other people and you don't make this one anymore because of this, you might have wanted to consider an exception. I won't shop with you anymore so I consider the...
Read moreI’ve been in twice this week because my mom loves this store and both times I have not been happy. Tuesday when I came in I was given an ugly look by a girl who seemed not much older than me at all and she greeted the people behind me but not me nor my sister when we walked in. The girl at the counter was nice, but again today the girl ( I believe her name was Kayley or Hayley) who has short blonde hair followed me when I was standing with my sister and gave me an ugly look when I passed her and when I smiled at her. Definitely lost my interest in being in the store immediately and I was super uncomfortable. Just because I am the same age as her should not mean I am different than any other customer and should not be treated...
