You gotta follow them on social to stay informed. Prices are unbeatable on a lot of goods. There are items here and there that aren't much better than HEB but you're still getting a deal. Some items require you to buy large quantities. They refund if something goes past expiration, some items are close. It can be hard to find items like beef or cold cuts because they tend to go quickly. Stock changes throughout the week. Weekends are crowded. Parking can be a hassle on Saturdays.
Bottom line: this place is full of great deals but it ain't CostCo. You should bring your own bags and be prepared to put in some effort to find things. The staff are super nice but there are limits to how much they can do in a place with ever-changing inventory, especially when it's crowded and there are long lines to check out. I'm told weekdays are better, less crowded.
Update: I've gone on weekdays twice. Much less crowded. Better stuff. I freaking love this place. I just got a 5 lbs bag of frozen chopped, fully smoked brisket for like 15 bucks. My deep freeze is full of frozen meat, fish, and shrimp. They had cheap, fresh eggs. I'm eating nice big chunks of beautiful crab in omelets. It's all restaurant quality or better. I bought everything for Easter brunch for 10 people for $200 and everybody was telling me how generous I was, lol. Massive charcuterie tray, rack of lamb, salmon, huge salad, tomato bisque, lemonade, roasted asparagus, baked crab dip, spanikopita, random dips, dressings, and chips, and a frozen cheesecake. All I bought at HEB was fruit and green onions. AAA is worth the drive and...
Read moreSo, I have been to this place several times. There are definitely some great deals to be found here. Buyer beware, however. Right in the name of the store, you will see that this is a salvage grocery. Think to yourself, "What could they possibly mean by that?" In the world of groceries, this typically means past the "best if used by" date. But, as I am sure you will agree, that date is very conservative. So, yes, I have purchased items such as these and ingested them and not had any ssues whatsoever. Also, pay attention! As with any discount store, not all great deals are actually that great a deal. Of course, since I don't just blindly purchase whatever they are offering, this is never a concern of mine. So with allof that being said, the biggest thing that stands out to me when I go there, is that the peole that work there are personable, friendly, and quick to offer assistance where needed. Huge diference from the big box supercenter marts where you cant find an employee for nothing if your life depended on it! Its refreshing to...
Read moreEveryone should be incorporating a visit to this store into their grocery shopping. Some people may need it more than others, but overall there is something for everyone here. The deals are great and as long as you set your expectations appropriately you will be very happy with the stock.
The small, densely packed nature of the store make it fast to browse. Since the prices are steeply discounted and the inventory is-what-it-is, you very quickly make your finds and are ready to checkout. Those who are creative in how to put a meal together and anticipating some of the basic needs (like cleaning supplies) will save a lot of money by shopping here.
The staff are super friendly. Typically, in a smaller business, you will have nicer staff. However, even amongst other small businesses, the staff were particularly nice here. They care about providing you with goods more than they care about themselves or a dollar. That kind of service goes a long way with folks.
My only regret is not shopping...
