Update June 2025. Getting new lenses for my minimaliast Silhouette frames. Great service and best price I could find for high end, thin, antireflective, progressive lenses.
I visited 4 shops looking for a specific frame and Custom Eye Care was going to be the last shop on my list in trying to rule in a particular purchase. When I called, the person on the phone was quite pleasant and informed me that Custom Eye Care carried "Silhouette" frames. She also gave a great description of their location at The Rim. I had a pair of Silhouette's years ago but it had been cost prohibitive to buy another pair. I was pleasantly suprised that not only did they carry the style but their price was way, way under every other shop I had visited. The personnel were warm, took their time and showed me all of the options fror different frames with different lens shapes. (Silhouette's allow for interchangable lens shapes.) I never felt rushed or like I was being "up charged" when deciding about progressive / regular bifocal lenses, coatings, etc. when figuring the cost of the lens and all of the various types of lenses and coatings available. The young man explained the various progressive lenses and the pros and cons of each. The out the door price for a top of the line lens and high end coatings was well within my budget. I had all but given up on being able to buy these frames again. I was measured and remeasured to insure the frames and lenses I wanted to purchase would fit my face shape and size. When the frames came in they placed "dummy" lenses in them and remeasured to get the best fit possible. These frames are hingeless and rimless. Super light and with the right lens seem to disapear on my face. PERFECT. Thank you to everyone at Custom Eye Care for providing me a great experience when I ordered the frames, when the lenses were custom ordered and when I picked them up. Having the option of remeasuring with my frames made all the difference. It was more work for them but well worth the extra trip to me. This is the only shop that has ever offered this extra step. My glasses are on my face from the time I wake up to the time I get ready for bed. It only makes sense that they are worth the effort. Read moreWow! What a great eye experience! After several years of struggling to see with the "out-of-date" prescription lenses in my Maui Jim sunglasses and rimless Silhouette eyewear, I'm so fortunate and pleased to have found Custom Eye Care.
Located in the Rim Shopping Center in northern San Antonio, TX., Custom Eye Care had the staff, experience and designer frames that my eyes and I needed. My near AND farsighted prescription requirements had previously led me to own two pairs of glasses, both of which I loved for their frame-style and appearance, but neither of which completely corrected my vision.
Josh, "my" eye care professional at Custom Eye Care had the patience, experience and skills necessary to resolve my issues in an elegant, practical and affordable way. He spent time with me discussing my sensitivity to sunlight and glare, my challenges when viewing my cell phone vs. my laptop and computer vs. street signs when driving. He recommended “Workplace lenses” that I have immediately become comfortable with and that work very well as my eyes transition from my phone to my computer to the television. I also opted to get a stylish pair of eyeglasses that I’ll be reserving for nighttime driving and then my faithful Maui Jim sunglasses now have corrective lenses for distance and sunlight sensitivity.
Do yourself and your eyes a favor and visit Custom Eye Care if you’re looking (blurry-eyed or not!) for the right pair of prescription glasses. You’ll be pleasantly surprised at how well you’ll be taken care of!

Read moreWhere do i even start. My mom lives 45 minutes away and was referred here by my dad, but it’s safe to say that they won’t be going back, ever.
The customer service is nonexistent. The first guy called my mom to go pick up her glasses and makes her drive 45 minutes away only to tell her that they’re chipped and need to be sent out again.
She goes back a second time and it’s the SAME issue that they can’t get fixed so they send them out a second time.
The third time is a charm, so they say. It’s over 3 weeks since they followed up w my mom. My mom had to do their job and follow up with them and they lie and say, “Oh I’m opening them right now, they just came in. Let me inspect them and call you back.” That call back was never made.
The manager, Nicole, is a joke and when my mom went back for a THIRD time over a waiting period of a month and a half... she said that they’re slightly chipped on the edges, but it was the best they could do. She didn’t even apologize again for the HORRIBLE experience or offer to make any of it right. They even took us back to an exam room to try on the glasses rather than having her sit at the front desks where you would normally do this.
