So this is going to be a bit of story but feel it all needs to be told as the frustration is real. My daughter's teacher was so very nice to pay out of pocket for some Thanksgiving party activities for her class. How Thankful can one be and god bless our Teachers. To offset some of her cost I thought it would be nice to purchase a $50.00 Visa Thank You Card for her. Well she went to use it and 4 of the number on the front and the security numbers on the back are all scratched off. I get a note with the gift card in my daughter's folder yesterday explaining that she tried to use it and also called the number on the back of the card to try and fix the issue. With no success with the VISA they told her to return it to the place she bought it. Enter HEB again. I bought another card this morning, and asked about the other one. I am told there is nothing they can do for me and that I should call the number on the card. Okay, I am out $100 on a $50 card now. Take the hit and move on. Take my daughter to school and hand her teacher the new gift card and apologized for the inconvenience. As I was working car line as a volunteer as I do for them on Fridays, I see my daughter running towards me with card in hand. Of course, the same issue as the other card. Go back to HEB again and talk to customer service. Of course I am told again there is nothing they can do for me and to call the number. Yes the number that did nothing but tell us to return it to the place we bought it already. Frustrated and over the situation, I buy yet another gift card. (NOT THE "THANK YOU" CARD)! Before I leave I ask to speak to the manager who takes the cards to a back room and comes out saying that they can stop payment on the I purchased this morning but not the one I purchased in November cause I did not have the receipt for that one anymore. While she is stopping payment on the one, another employee walks up with a handful of the "Thank You" gift cards and tells us that they were all like that. At this point, I am thinking wow okay so there is your proof I am not making this up and perhaps maybe you will issue me at a least a HEB gift card to offset the first card that I do not have a receipt for. Nope, just tell me your sorry and kick me to the curb. What happen to the days when people stood behind the product they sell. There is so much I feel HEB could have done to offset the loss having more than enough proof in their possession. Sorry for the long story, but in short... Stay away from the "Thank You" Vanilla Visa Gift Cards at HEB. You too will lose! Let's add some gasoline to the fire. "Response from Owner" supplies you a number to call and "Call cannot be completed"? What kind of response is this! God willing Kroger comes back with a vengeance in San Antonio, cause HEB does not care!

The H-E-B at Blanco and West Ave is a convenient option for quick grocery trips, especially if you're nearby. The store has a decent meat section with reasonable prices, and they offer a large selection of vitamins, which is a plus if you're looking for supplements. However, the produce section is limited, with not the greatest selection or quality, and the seafood section is a big no-go. This location also has a nostalgic feel for me, as I grew up in the area and have been shopping here for years. While it works for small hauls, I usually prefer going to the H-E-B on NW Military or Costco for larger grocery trips, where the selection and quality are better overall. One major downside of this location is the area at night—it's not the safest, and there can be some shady characters around. So, while it's convenient for quick stops during the day, I wouldn't recommend going after dark.

I don't visit this HEB much. I had a good experience at the service center and will definitely return. 2/14/24- Had an amazing experience with Dani @ the floral department. She did a beautiful arrangement for that special someone. This was definitely one of the best I've ever seen at an HEB... GREAT JOB DANI!! Keep up the extraordinary work!

The Alnon HEB is smaller than a HEB Plus, but square footage is more than a typically-sized HEB. The seafood, meat and produce departments are very good, as well as an abundance of specialty cheese and oriental choices. A special Kosher section is available for customers particularly in the Jewish community nearby. The dairy department could be better. For the most part, I've found staff and managers courteous and helpful.

It's the parking lot and decisions about availability that discouraged me. This HEB sees customers, who want someone else doing the legwork, have priority over those who come into the store. More reserved parking spaces blossomed a few months ago, while shaded areas in the hot San Antonio sun remain limited. The store expanded its service area where employees ready the shopping carts to go to the drive- up customer. I realize COVID-19 was motivation in expanding drive-up service. But as Delta disappeared, the parking lot didn't change. This means walk-in shoppers have to compete for closer spaces and walk further into the store. Walking is good for us, but not for the melting ice cream.

Update: Nothing really changed with the parking lot.

Update, 12/20/2023. Great in-store free item coupons for Christmas dinner.

Update: There is a good pharmacy available in the store.

Update: Excellent and rapid service with a list of medications for income tax purposes.

Found everything we needed for a post-dental diet.

Update: Plenty of solar eclipse glasses were available...

I stopped coming here doing my weekly shopping like a year ago because I went for my weekly run of deli/groceries (about $60 boars head deli) they told me it’d be 10-15 minutes until the one person working was back from freezer so now I only come here for my customer service stuff and today was pretty annoying but normally no problems. Around 1:45 I got in line and the first person at the register kind of rudely waved me down to the other cashiers like she didn’t want to deal with me and like I should’ve already moved down but it seemed like something was going on that’s why I hadn’t moved until motioned, so I move down to the first girl as motioned and she’s like ā€œoh give me a sec my computers restartingā€, kinda sounded like she was at the end of her shift the way she said it like she was speaking to a coworker not customer. 2 people behind me got helped at the first 2 registers, so I’m like wtf did she send me down to the one person who couldn’t help me. Then the second register (Bertha it says on the receipt) said I can help you which I really appreciated but said I needed my physical card for a return. I told her I’d done it before and she let me do it and of course it worked. So now I don’t think I’ll be coming here anymore at all not that they care lol. I always regret when I don’t go to the Alon...
