I met Ron at Madhatters Tea. He introduced himself to me and then we chatted about restaurants at length. Like Ron, we have entrepreneur tendencies. We also support each others businesses. He was kind and always asked the best questions about business. I have fond memories of him and our conversations and am a regular. Lately, when arriving at their drive through, especially after 9:00 p.m. (they close at 10:00 p.m.) there are occasions that no one greets through the speaker for a length of time that might suggest that they have closed early or like tonight that they were too busy "closing" to attend to their business. I arrived 9:36 and was not greeted. As I drove around the bend, 2 other cars were in line and as I moved up to the window, was asked what I had ordered. I explained that I had not ordered and that no one had greeted me. Yes, he apologized (right thing to do) by explaining that they were really busy. There were only 3 tables occupied inside. From what I could see through the window was the "busy-ness" of the kitchen crew closing up. I get that, I understand that. But what I don't understand is the "busy-ness" that gets in the way of hospitality. I would share with my employees at Madhatters Tea that if a guest shows up at 10 minutes to close and they receive rolled eyes or indifference that we might just open 24 hours. (this way no one every can arrive right before we close) Guests see "hours of operation" and nothing else, and they should not. They are there to eat, drink and be merry. If you are open until 10:00 p.m. then be "open", not...
Read moreI went through the Drive Thru and placed an order for two chicken enchilada plates, a macho burrito and chicken fajita quesadilla, and a cup of water. I waited a while to get to the window and when I finally did, the attendant gave me a bag with only part of my order. I noticed something was missing so I asked him to recheck, he did and said yes they were missing an item. He placed the missing entree in my bag and handed it back to me. I was joking about checking the orders before I leave because I don't like getting home to realize I'm missing something. He agreed and shared a similar experience. I left, got home and realized I was still missing another entree. I called and the person on the other line said they were the one who packed my order and said everything should be in there, when I read off the items and told him what I was missing he calls out to someone in the background to ask if they made the entree, they said no, so he said oh ok, if you want we can issue a refund or you can come back and we'll give you the missing item. I agreed to come back since I wasn't too far away, went inside and explained to another cashier why I was there. They had me wait another 15 minutes to finally get me the missing item. I'm not a confrontational person, I don't act irrational but I think they were expecting me to react that way. They started offering me free stuff, I declined it all, I just wanted what was missing from my order. I couldn't stand to eat the food so I don't know if it was good or not. I don't think I'll be going back...
Read moreI have been going to the las Palapas on thousand oaks and Jonesmaltsburg, my experience in the last visits.... On the different Fridays the have not had Barbaqoa through the drive through: on a Friday!!!! Come on and everyone it was the same excuse, not ordering properly. 2 Sundays in a row I have gone to eat dinner on Sundays and the first Sunday actually lat week I was told that the Margarita machine was broken; a complete lie they were cleaning at 8pm and had obviously shut the machine down, tonight mothers day a showed up at 8 pm and I ordered a margarita when it was delivered and I took a sip only to find out that it had no tequila or triple sec in the mix just lime and water. I know this because I was in the food industry for 10 years so I knew what was up... I asked the employee to speak to the manager and she confirmed that they were indeed out of product for the machine, but it was still being sold for she had told me that they were selling them all day😂,,,, after asking her to taste her own product she agreed that they were watered down. Is this the type of business that allows the ignorance of management or owner to allow... I don't see this location lasting too much longer . In fact I even asked her if she new who Ron Acosta was and if he was still franching these out and she simply replied that she didn't know who that was. When Ron had his location he never would allow for...
