I adore this store, the variety of products, and the customer service which is highly personalized. People give bad reviews for customer service here because having vast amounts of attention and sales shoved in their faces is mainstream in "Corporate-America". The workers at this store don't act like they are a peon of a huge company looking for money from every customer. Instead, they act like actual human beings who work at a job and want to help you if you need it. Apparently, if a retail worker isn't wearing a huge, fake, "Disney-esc" smile on their faces along with being full of fake hyper-energy, they are not "working". If the workers aren't trying to cater to your every need like you are the most important human on the planet because you have a few bucks to spend the workers are "bothered by you" or "unenthusiastic". This notion is ridiculous.
Don't shop here if you want sales and "class A customer service" (which is a whole bunch of corporate bullshit) shoved down your throat. Don't shop here if you are lazy and expect everything to be handed to you and your questions automatically answered. You won't get this attention. End of story. Instead you will receive genuine concern and help if you need it. If you ask, you will get more help than you ever needed, guaranteed. The associates at this store even kept the place open after hours just so I could find what I needed. The store is so small and the workers are always close by...you basically have to be a fool to not be able to find them. Or incredibly lazy, which I guess most people...
Read moreI love this Tandy leather store! I have visited this store several times. The personnel are always willing to help, and are knowledgeable enough to guide a novice attempting a 1st piece.
They have what I would call a full inventory of leatherworking tools and materials. If you are a novice who just wants to make 1 thing, these folks will provide the guidance. I picked out 2 different luggage tag kits. They even cone with the sewing thread & needles, along with pre-cut leather blanks with stitching holes already punched. Being unsure of my needs, I asked the stpre-person about cutting in the pattern, painting highlights, and finishing. Right now I'm just working on cutting in the pattern. But it's good to know they have guiding knowledge. I am looking forward to continuing my leathercrafting, with lots of their friendly support.
Stopped by again yesterday to ask advice on making a guitar strap for my son. Nancy took the time and showed me how my belt was constructed as a comparison. Always...
Read moreFirst, this place smells like the inside of a leather candle. I could smell this smell for the rest of my life and never get tired of it.
The staff was friendly when I walked in, but like other reviews they do not hover over you for your entire visit. If you expect that level of sales pushing, go elsewhere. This is the kind of small business friendliness that I seek out. When I had questions, they were there to answer them. Otherwise, they let me walk around the store and browse to my hearts content. They have a very wide selection of leather, from thin garment weight hides all the way to heavy saddle skirting. Considering how large they are online, I actually didn't expect as much product in the store as I found there today. It was a pleasant surprise.
I've only just been to this location today and I already have a wishlist for leathers, tools, and treatments. I will definitely be returning to this location...
