Well first off can't Express how disappointed I am at buying fish from here. I had originally bought 2 gold fish from here that where in an aquarium that said "1.99" they sold them to me for 6.99 each. The lady who was packing them left one in the bag WITHOUT water while she tried to catch the other. Guess which fish died 1 day after I brought them home. The prices where mixed up on my gold fish. I didn't mind but I was going to buy about 40 dollars worth of fish and taxes where about 30 dollars. Why are taxes so high?? Not to mention the water was yellow when they gave them to me. The other few fish I brought and they packaged correctly are still alive. BUT my gold fish didn't even live 1 week after I bought them.
Now I know I was doing everything correctly. I acclimate them. The water I use has a ph of 8-9 Temperatures where great for gold fish. And beneficial bacteria.
After my gold fish died I ended up going to a different fish store and bought a lot more fish FOR THE PRICE that they where listed for.
They have been alive for over a week now.
I did exactly what I did with the gold fish I bought from this store.
I recommend this place but I do not agree with the way these fish are kept.
Aquariums are way to small for these fish.
A betta can't be kept in a little container like that.
They require a 10 gallon aquarium and at least space to move.
When I went those betta looked sick. Not even a slightly happy. I've seen bettas be happier in the containers from petsmart.
Only the ones that where swimming freely seemed happy.
As well as the fact that they put betta fish together in an aquarium could make people think that bettas can be kept in an aquarium together.
Please make sure to tell your customers the truth. Those bettas tails looked...

Before committing, I visited multiple stores around San Antonio to find the right expert to help bring my vision to life. Cody stood out as the most knowledgeable and helpful person I’ve come across in the aquarium world. He is genuinely passionate about aquariums and helping people create their own slice of nature. He walked me through every step, made sure I got exactly what I was paying for, and even saved me money in a few places—which was a huge bonus.
Cody custom-plumbed both tanks—and he absolutely nailed it. Not a loose valve or leaky joint in sight. Both tanks run beautifully… and I’m a complete perfectionist, so that’s saying a lot. Cody’s guidance was solid from start to finish, and I still seek his advice on new fish or plants, feeding tips, disease control, and more. He always finds time to deliver on his promises—and consistently goes above and beyond.
The shop might not be flashy, but it’s a hidden gem as far as I’m concerned. The fish are unique and healthy, the advice and recommendations are solid, and their commitment to doing things right shows. It’s the only place in town I trust for anything aquarium-related, and I don’t see that changing...
Read moreThis is hands down the best fish store I’ve ever been to. I’ve been keeping freshwater aquariums now for about 10 years, and genuinely enjoy fish watching fish swim around. I’ve moved around quite a bit and have been to pet stores in Nebraska, Georgia, Puerto Rico, and Mexico. I’m by no means an expert, but can give a pretty good comparison on fish stores for the average Joe. First, this shop is family owned and all the workers have been really friendly every time I go. They are very knowledgeable about aquariums, and can answer any questions you have. Generally the cheapest place for fish tends to be Petco or PetSmart, but their workers are usually not very knowledgeable on aquariums and most of their fish have ich. These guys setup all their tanks on a single filtration and most of their fish look really healthy. On top of that, their prices are some of the lowest around. As of this writing neon tetras are only $1.19......PetSmart runs $1.99. Great for my medical student budget. The selection is awesome, they’ve got a large amount of freshwater fish and plants, fish products, and if you’re new or have questions on aquarium fish these guys are the first store you should visit. So my own aquarium is full of neon tetras and shrimp, but I’ll be stopping by these guys whenever I run out of water conditioner or fish food in order to support an awesome local Texas...
