The Branch at Medical Center — Local services in San Antonio

I have lived here for only 4 months. I moved into an apartment that was not liveable. Unfortunately, I should have known when they didn't let me view my apartment until the day before move-in. Doors and cabinets do not close, dead bugs are in all the light fixtures, no working bathroom sink, there is mold in the storage closet, there is no hot water, a collapsed closet, reversed fridge doors, a leak from the bathroom ceiling, a giant hole in our wall, no working sliding glass door, no screens on our window, etc. NOTHING was fixed for months besides the closet and hot water, until I called the city and the next day, they came and fixed everything except our bathroom door (does not lock or close), mold in the storage closet, a leak pouring onto our patio, a leaking kitchen sink, and feces are now coming up through our shower drain. Shortly after, new management came in and all of my work orders that were still active no longer exist. I have put in 3 work orders, all weeks apart, (one being today) and nothing has been done and I have not even been contacted. I even called regarding my work orders and was given no answer on when they would be completed, or if someone would get back to me. I’m thinking it’s time to call the city again. Additionally, my brother moved in to another apartment here and when he moved in he had NO AC, his “move in ready” apartment was full of someone else’s stuff, he also had a collapsed closet, and there were dead bugs inside his thermostat.

Update: They did fix the plumbing issue today and our bathroom door. They looked at the storage closet and said they would be working on it all day, but then they disappeared. AND now our AC isn't working.

Update 2 (11/24): Nobody picks up the phone at the branch at medical's corporate phone number. There also has been no emergency line provided to me by management. Currently, water is leaking from our bathroom ceiling uncontrollably and pieces of wet ceiling are falling off, with no number to contact for immediate help. I have reported to the city for the second time. The black mold in my storage closet was never fixed (though they tried to claim it was on November 11th), and the mold has destroyed all of my property being stored. I also called the other day, hoiping to get a manger to call me back. Two people claimed a manager would call me tomorrow. This clearly never happened. If anyone is having issues at this apartment complex as well, I urge you to report to the city asap. This place needs to...

My breaker BLEW! I had to call the fire department because the breaker in my apartment wound up sparking so much so that it almost caused a fire. I had to call the fire department telling them that I tried to turn off my breaker because nothing was working in my apartment and I didn’t wanna get electrocuted, but upon trying to turn the breaker off, it’s sparked. They wound up coming and said that maintenance would need to replace the breaker immediately I had To call the maintenance emergency line and they said that they would be on their way, fire department showed up before them, maintenance showed up 20 minutes after and said we would be back tomorrow the box. It has been two days and no one has been by. I have called with nothing but voicemails. They also wanted to raise the rent $100. We have roaches like nobody’s business I have even paid for for private pest control to come come out and nothing has helped, there is mold under the kitchen sink as well as the foundation underneath the sink that is There is rust in my bathroom, bathroom tub, there is vinyl that is coming up in my apartment in the bathroom Flood that happened with previous management that never got fixed, the door to my outside Was chewed by previous owner dog and hasn’t been replaced and still looks the same. I have remodeled the entire backyard because of constant. Pest control I have had to put down dirt and mulch and rake the yard up. My main point is avoid living here my lease ends soon THANK GOD I plan on running as fast as I can. I honestly wouldn’t even mark this as a safe place to live with Children, I have a very thick security package and out of the two years I have lived here. My home has been in two attempted break-ins and one attempted break-in to my vehicle. The pools are never clean. There are two pools near my building that have been neglected for the last year and a half and probably haven’t seen water for two years yet they claim they have numerous pools as far as I’m concerned the only pool that is clean is the Indoor pool. They are advertising for remodeled apartments. I have a remodeled department and it’s by far the trashiest remodel I’ve ever seen all they did was paint over fur from previous owners and slapped on a thick coat of paint on the cupboards and called it a day. I warn you, if you are attracted to the low rates (as I was) DO NOT BE FOOLED. You get what you pay for. Please heed the reviews, because I’m paying dearly for giving this place a chance despite the negative reviews I saw before moving here. If I could give this place a zero star I would. I’m a current resident and I genuinely have nothing nice to say about this place other than the deer that I see in the woods are cute. Whoever is currently working in the leasing office has no idea what customer service is. She’s rude and disrespectful and constantly cuts you off when speaking. There’s always someone new and they never last long, then whoever they hire next is just as rude and condescending. Initially I moved from out of state and was placed in the wrong apartment when I got here. The leasing agent then said “well what do you want me to do about it? You already signed the lease.” TERRIBLE first impression. They don’t enforce the leashed pet rules nor do they enforce people picking up after their pets, so there’s dog crap everywhere. They don’t enforce people throwing away their garbage so the dumpsters literally have bags sitting next to them that I will pick up myself when I take my trash out. They are not timely with work orders, nor do they do proper yearly A/C maintenance checks by licensed third party professionals as is required by law, so the units barely work for two weeks before needing maintenance again, even less during the summer months. The ONLY thing they are timely with is rent. All they care about is the money, not the residents. From proper living conditions that we PAY for, to safety regulations and implementation of rules. They recently started trying to hold snack days at the leasing office such as donuts, ice cream, food truck, etc. So now instead of allocating funds to the betterment of the complex, they instead want to BRIBE residents into liking them. I’ve made complaints, have filed with the police on one occasion concerning my vehicle, and I cannot wait to move once my lease is up. For your own peace, please save yourself the biggest headache of your life and avoid this place by any means necessary. I would NEVER recommend...
