(Updated x3)
My wife and I have lived here for 3 years, and there is a lot to break down here from the perspective of an apartment owner.
Firstly, the staffing situation; very unpredictable. The staff here have been very pleasant to interact with basically all the time, donāt get me wrong, but the corporate land lord that owns the complex here has a bad habit of firing the staff (front office and maintenance) and replacing them every so often, without telling anyone, it throws a lot of administrative things off, like getting a new lease, wondering if your maintenance request got lost, fixing the property, etc. Overall scummy corporate practices, for a staff that really doesnāt deserve it. They work really hard here, but the moment they have to ācall corporateā to make a request for us, or ask a question, their hard work becomes in vein. Seriously, it takes MONTHS to hear back from corporate, unless you owe the company $$$ for some random bill you āincorrectlyā payed for over a year ago. I could go on and on about the corporation that doesnāt bother to show its face around here (and yet makes the front office workers look incompetent), but this complex is like all the other ones in this regard; owned by a corporate landlord. By comparison, we have it pretty alright here! The coffee machine is useful in a pinch, the pool is clean most of the time in the summer, hallways donāt always smell like trash, no major roach problem⦠Every apartment is gonna be bad when itās owned by a corporation, you just gotta find one that is bad in a way that you wonāt pull your hair (or teeth) out over. So read more reviews, and see what you think.
Also all the leaf blowing near the pool is annoying as heck at 9am on random days. Where do the leaves even go??? Into the pool? On to other peoples back porch?? The area is freaking walled in, thereās no point in blowing the leaves (the fall look is cute anyways). At least do the pointless blowing at like 3pm when we pretend everyone is awake anyways, or just use a broom/rake!! Yall are close to getting only 2 stars from this alone š¤
But yeah, honest review: (UPDATE: -1 star out of spite. Corporate demanded a fatter wallet, and now I have to worry about starvation for the next month! Enjoy your yacht!)
Edit: looks like they replied defending their corporate structure, rather than actually taking the time to address my actual, material complaints about the property. Kinda reaffirming in a very, very sad way. Either way, if you hate dealing with this type of bureaucratic corporate structure (read the reply) then, again, look elsewhere. I am writing this at 9am with leaf blowers blowing outside my window, completely unaddressed, refusing anyone to sleep in, or have a stable night shift sleep schedule.
Edit 2: they are horribly understaffed here. Itās very difficult to get them to answer the phone, and respond to emails. Just wanted to add, that if you ever need to reach out to them, be prepared to make a trip or two (maybe even more) to the front office in person, just to do something they could have answered through a simple email or phone call. Seriously, they need more staff, and itās been too long for them to blame their ānew managementā change. Theyāll eventually say the same thing as the last management; that itās too expensive (they have to exploit our own homes for as much profit as possible after all!) But again, thatās just how landlords operate, profit over peopleās homes. Just be prepared to have 1 person at the front desk all day, and MAYBE a second one for the phones or in the back. Pick the poison here, or anywhere else for a different concoction.
3: Been a while since I wrote this review, and I was reminded to update here due to the fire alarm jump scares that happen monthly (mostly) without warning. They tell us that āitll be fixed this timeā and every time they email AND text us about it, it becomes less convincing each time. Oh did I mention that thereās fire alarms EVERY unit? Is it a deal breaker? It shouldnt be, but it does feel like it when they go off...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUPDATE I'm giving 5 stars now to one of the Leasing Agents named Susan. Omigosh! Susan is amazing as my packages got delivered to The District. If you read my past review you will know that I moved out due to the high cost of the apartment and bad or no service at all for maintenance. However, after changing my previous address to my new one, my packages were still delivered to The District Apartments. I called and spoke to Susan who went out and beyond her way to help me. I was able to retrieve one package. I will need to speak to FedEx on my other packages. Nonetheless Susan is amazing and The District is very lucky and fortunate to have her. She is very professional and friendly as well. If I could give more than 5 stars for Susan, I would. Susan is a much needed relief to the District. Susan takes her job, duties and Customer Service very seriously. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the previous agents. I can honestly say that having Susan there is a huge blessing to the District Apartments Reidents and I mean that too. I seriously do mean that. She (Susan) is a blessing to the District Apartments and that my dear readers is the truth!!! āŗļø
Well, my stay at these apartments were horrible and is the worst experience that I have had with an apartment complex. I lived here for a year only and it was one of the worst experiences ever. What happened during the year I was here? Absolutely nothing. Let me inform that during the year that I lived here, my black trash can was stolen and I sent in many requests for issues in the apt and for the ice maker in the freezer to be fixed and nothing happened. There was a maintenance man that did go to my apt while I was at work and supposedly fixed my freezer. When I got home, there was water all over the floor and one of my packets of steaks was stolen. I called to report this to the office as the ce maker in the freezer still didn't work as well as to address the issue of my stolen steaks. Nothing happened and my calls were ignored. I didn't receive any calls nor did anyone reach out to me regarding the issues I had with the apt (and there was many). During the last few weeks, I had no hot water. I didn't waste my time to have it fixed as my previous maintenance request in the past was ignored. It was sooo bad ....HOWEVER....there is hope. There is new management in which there are 3 ladies running the Apartment Complex and their names are Paige, Susan, and Georgia. I will say that close to the end of my lease, my AC went out and my apt became like an oven. I called and put in a request to have my AC repaired and within that evening CJ in maintenance came right on over and worked on my AC. While it was not fixed that night, it was definitely fixed by the next day as when I got home from work, my apt was so nice and cool. Also, there is a change or two. The Garage gate is now locked up and you will need an app to get into the Garage. That is one of the issues that has been addressed and fixed so far. The other issue was that my car was towed due to miscommunication on the Parking Stickers. I was extremely upset and had to miss work when my car got towed. However, Paige went the distance and spoke to the towing company about the miscommunication on parking. I was able to get my car back without paying any tow fee. So a BIG Thank You to Paige. Shout out to you Paige. I know it will take quite awhile for things to be running smoothly but I believe that these ladies are giving their all to make sure that the issues (like the pool, broken gym equipment, cleanliness in the apt, the dirty halls and more) get fixed as well as to make sure that maintenance calls are addressed so that issues in the apts are fixed and resolved. It will take awhile but,,,like I said, there is hope with these three ladies. Give them a chance as they will listen which is something that I didn't have in the past year with previous management. I know about this as they listened and helped to resolve the issues that I had in which I really...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAvoid This Apartment Complex at All Costs - Unprofessional, Unsafe, and Unkempt (I only put 1 star because I was not allowed to put zero)
Iāve been living here for some time now, and I can confidently say this has been the worst apartment experience Iāve ever had. From the moment we moved in, itās been one issue after another, and I donāt even know where to begin. To start, the property has had more problems than the last four apartments Iāve lived in combined.
First off, communication is nonexistent. The staff constantly changes, and thereās never any handoff between outgoing and incoming staff. Itās as if no one communicates with each other, and the management is nowhere to be found when issues arise. On top of that, the property ownership has changed multiple times, which only adds to the confusion and disorganization.
We dealt with a broken gate for six months, which remained open during a time of increasing car thefts in the area. Not only was this a safety issue, but our car was also damaged twice in attempts to steal itābroken windows and extensive damage. As well as someone attempting to come on our patio and potential try to enter our unit. Itās beyond frustrating to pay rent for a place where security isnāt even a priority.
When we moved in, the apartment was disgusting. The fridge had stains, there was garbage on the floor, and the baseboard was falling off. This was unacceptable, and it was clear that the apartment hadnāt been properly cleaned or prepared for a new tenant.
We also went without hot water for THREE weeks. Thatās rightāthree weeks. The maintenance team was completely unhelpful, and when they finally showed up to fix it, they came at 8 pm without any notice, and the maintenance worker had no ID, no uniform, and just let himself into the apartment with a code. When I reported this concerning behavior, the worker conveniently "quit" soon after. Itās hard to trust a place where basic security and professionalism are so lacking.
Safety concerns are also a huge issue here. There was an incident where police had to sweep the hallways with guns drawn, but we never received any kind of notice or explanation about what was happening. This lack of communication is not only inconvenient but also downright alarming.
The amenities here are a joke. The rooftop has been closed for most of the year, and Iām still not even sure if itās open now. The pool has been closed for months as well, despite the fact that weāre still being charged amenity fees. The dog park is tiny and overrun with fleas, and to make matters worse, the management decided to cover much of the grass with rocks, leaving nowhere for our pets to go to the bathroom.
The valet trash service we pay for is constantly skipping our unit when our trash is out properly and we have video evidence of them purposely skipping it.
The staff here has been rude, unhelpful, and often give us the runaround when we need assistance. Iāve never experienced such a lack of professionalism and care from any apartment complex. The place might look nice on the outside, but itās a total nightmare to actually live here.
I would strongly advise anyone looking for a place to live to stay far away from this apartment complex. Between the constant issues, unsafe environment, and terrible customer service, itās not worth the hassle or the stress. I would not recommend this...
