Beware, this location is known for falsifying information and exacerbating results. Their front desk also has a new person training every month which caused major billing issues and appointment delays. Edit- Your response doesn't surprise me- I went to the location next to P. Terry's for over a year. In fact, many visits, when I walked out of the patient room and up to the front desk to square things away, the ladies behind the desk couldn't find my profile then either. So yeah, I'm not surprised you can't find any "records" of me. I'm guessing you work at the front desk... Dr. Alsheikh diagnosed me with Cataracs and said I had advanced glaucoma and said I needed surgery within 7 days. I fell for it and caved in and paid to have all the work done. After surgery, I took those results to other doctors who told me that my Cataracs were very minor and wouldn't require treatment for about 10 years. In addition, both other doctors said I didn't have glaucoma. Dr. Alsheikh is more interested in stretching the truth and telling patients an elaborated versions of what they actually have, just to get more money and conduct surgeries. Dr. Guzman is nice but she isn't able to see past the shadow of Dr. Alsheikh and just parrots what he says. She would really do much better in a different facility. I lost count of how many times I heard from employees, including Dr. Guzman when in the exam rooms that they have to get everything on the screens perfect, otherwise Alsheikh will get upset and raise his voice. During my discussions with them, they would say he is the reason they have such a high turnover due to difficulties of trying to work with him and unethical behavior. When you first go to this location, they make you feel like a king and treat you with respect and professionalism and zero errors. Once you pay and get past that "dating phase" your priority as a patient is MUCH lower. They start "losing" files or can't find you in the system, they bill for things don't happen and then the aftercare.... oh my. That was horrible. I kept getting new side-effects of all the surgeries and would seek care at the clinic. Alsheikh all the sudden didn't have time so they would have me see Dr. Guzman. After going to the front desk to pay for the visit and schedule my next, they would say this type of visit wasn't covered under the original "package" I purchased. Dr. Guzman would come in and have them change some codes around to make the visit look like a follow-up from the previous visit, so it was covered. That was probably the nicest thing she did. After a certain number of visits after your surgery, they tell you the side effects weren't from the procedure and you that you have to purchase another package to be seen again. However, during the "dating phase" Alsheikh tells you that the chances of side effects are .01% and that if they do happen, they will "take care of you". Somehow, even though the chances are so low for side effects, I got every single one. Other providers and professionals explained to me that it was due to errors during procedure and the lack of the proper post-surgery direction... even though I followed after-care procedures to the letter. SO, IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR EYES, GIVE THEM THE BEST. DON'T SETTLE FOR A COMPANY LIKE TLC SAN ANTONIO THAT FALSIFIES THEIR FINDINGS AND TREATS YOU THIS WAY POST SURGERY. If anything, PLEASE get a second opinion or third... and then...

I was so tired of wearing contacts and glasses for the past 10+ years but I was really worried and scared about getting LASIK. I read about all of the possible side effects and complications, and the whole idea of someone messing with my eyes really scared me! I looked at 5 different LASIK places in the San Antonio area and TLC was by far my favorite. It wasn’t the cheapest, but the others were not up front about all of their costs and I didn’t trust that it was current technology. Plus, they were not as friendly or as comfortable of an environment. Every single person at TLC was professional and friendly. From the very beginning, they told me exactly what they were doing and what to expect. They were one of the only places that seemed up front about everything: from the technology to the risks to the costs. They were very thorough and organized in every step, like giving me a list of the prescriptions I would need, including pictures and generic names, just so I knew exactly what I needed.
Dr. Guzman was really nice and talked me through my specific risks and candidacy for LASIK. Caroline and Anastasia were awesome doing all of the tests and answering all of my many questions. TLC also have partner eye doctors in surrounding areas, so even though I don’t live in San Antonio, I only had to go there for the consult and procedure! Everything else was done through phone/email and all of the follow up care is at my local eye doctor.
On the day of the surgery, I was very, very nervous, even with my husband there to support me. Tamia got me all prepared and was really friendly. She made me feel comfortable and more at ease, even before the Valium. She was very thorough and made sure I had everything I needed for the procedure and after. Then I met with Dr. Alsheikh who checked my eyes and answered all of my questions. He didn’t seem rushed or make me feel like my questions were stupid.
The procedure itself lasted only a couple minutes and was painless. It was great having Caroline and Anastasia in the room. They made sure I was in the right position and was comfortable, put plenty of numbing drops in my eyes, and walked me through each step. They let me know exactly what was happening, how many more seconds were in each step, when to close my eyes, and what was going to happen next. I wouldn’t say the procedure itself was a pleasant experience, but I was comfortable and less nervous since they were walking me through each step. Before I knew it, I was done and on my way home.
I can only say that each person at TLC was so friendly, professional, and thorough that it really made me feel better. I was so thankful to have Anastasia there, from the very first consultation, to every phone call or email with all of my questions, to the actual procedure. I knew I’d have to really trust someone if I was going to get LASIK. I trusted TLC and I’m glad I did. I’m now a week out from surgery and seeing 20/15! I’m back to work and driving, am already seeing an improvement in the halos and dry-eyes, and I already love not having to worry about contacts. Thanks again to Anastasia, Caroline, Tamia, Dr. Guzman, and Dr. Alsheikh at TLC!
I definitely recommend TLC to anyone wanting LASIK in the San Antonio area. Definitely worth...
Read moreMy appointment was at 8:10 am on a Monday morning. The office did not even open its doors until 8:09 am. The staff was loudly talking how bad traffic was due to it raining I suspect to share the reason for the office being opened late. This isn’t the first time either and rain wasn’t a factor previously. Mind you everyone else is expected to be there in time - and all patients were by the way. I was not seen until 8:40 am…a full 30 minutes later with no patient in front of me. I can’t even understand this as the lady who ended up attending me was assisting no one else before me. So let’s get to this young lady assisting me. Don’t get me wrong she was nice but new. New to the machines being used, new to proving instructions on when to blink. She needed to ask for help multiple times, she didn’t know how to position the machine against my eye. It was a mess. I had to ask about the consent forms I was signing as she failed to mention there were out of pocket costs if the insurance didn’t cover it. And these people weren’t even mindful enough to try and make up for their own delays. Just getting the pictures of the eyes took 45 minutes. Then there were no rooms available to be seen an hour an 10 minutes after my original appointment. I was honestly at a loss. I have been here now multiple times due to eye dryness and TLC dropped the ball. I have to work too. I have somewhere to be too but there is just a complete disregard for other people, their own schedules and when TLC even schedules their appointments.
Update: at 10:08 AM I went to the front desk as I still had not been seen. The doctor finally walked in said “ I read your review and I’m firing you as a patient and you need to leave. I won’t charge you but leave.” I said OK and what about seeing someone else? He said “ I don’t care just leave.” so I left everyone beware of this place after ruining my vision and pain. This is what I get.
In response to TKC’s response: this is false. I have been seen by Dr.Guzman since my surgery in February 2022. I was informed from the very beginning that she was not covered under my insurance and in fact, I have had appointments rescheduled when she was the only available doctor since Dr. Alsheikh had to step into the room so you would be able to covered by insurance. This has happened at every follow up session. That is not what happened so please do not use this as a rationale. He was very deliberate to “fire me as a patient” while I am still seeking treatment for issues...
