The lack of care for a customer to have an enjoyable experience was mind blowing to me. My boyfriend and I make it a point to try escape rooms at every city we vacation. Our first night we decide to try the Stone Oak location at 8:15pm. Upon entering the manager Avery was coming back inside from what seemed like a break and decided to give us a not so warm greeting. For some reason he assume we weren’t paying customers and told us they’re closed. So my boyfriend said, “We have a reservation” and I replied with, “Do we get a refund if our game is cancelled?” So he checked the reservation and found our names. Red flag one. Then once we got in the room he told us what was behind one of the doors, which ruined the suspense and excitement for us. Red flag two. Then decided we were going too fast so he changed our time to make it seem like we had 15 min left instead of 30min. Red flag three. Then proceeded to try and sell us a picture with half my head cut off and my boyfriend’s eyes closed. What was this man thinking?!
We came back for a second time because we paid for 2 games ahead of time. We were actually greeted warmly this time. But the issue was towards the end of the game. We were on the last clue where it said slide. So we assumed we needed to slide something on the wall to achieve winning the game. We were trying to figure this clue out for 10 min. Mind you before then we were given clues left and right. But for some reason we didn’t get a clue for the last one. So we decided to slide a moving part on the wall and we finished the room. Wrong. The game master (Enoch) came in with a huge attitude and said we weren’t supposed to do that. Then told us what we were suppose to do. So I responded with, “This whole time you watched us struggle to achieve this puzzle and saw us sliding the prop on the wall and you said nothing?” He didn’t respond and walked away to the back with an attitude and left us in the front. He wasn’t paying attention to our game when we were on the last clue. The blatant disrespect and lack of care was mind blowing. What a wonderful way to give someone a great experience on Christmas Eve and Day. Shame on these employees. Will never go to this location or recommend this...
Read moreMy experience with this place was absolutely terrible. We have done tons of escape rooms and always find one to go do when we are on vacation. Yesterday we found extreme escape rooms in stone oak and decided to book 2 rooms on for last night and one for today. When we arrived for our time slot yesterday we were met with a manager Avery, who said they were currently closed. When we mentioned that we had a reservation he reluctantly checked and went to get the room ready. Upon taking us to the room he ruined the fun parts by explaining what secret doors were there and what surprises were coming in the next room. When we finished the room he said that since we were doing so well he had adjusted our time limit and shortened it so we don’t know how long it actually took us to complete. Despite this less than ideal experience we returned to play the 2nd room we previously booked. This experience ended in being again unenjoyable. There was a part of the room that had a dumpster that clue said to slide which we were given the clue from the game master Enoch when we were looking at it, the dumpster looked like it could slide so we tried and it moved. We were not given any other instructions other than the clue saying slide. Next thing we know is Enoch standing in the room saying “well I guess you’re done since you just forced that to move instead of spelling out SLIDE.” And walked away. When we asked why he didn’t say anything the girl at the front admitted it was because he wasn’t watching us anymore after his last clue. As someone who has done over 75 escape rooms I am so incredibly disappointed with the experience and lack of welcoming nature of the people working at extreme escape. We will not...
Read moreI was so excited to do this after doing so many virtual escape rooms online. I became addicted to doing them and so when I finally got the opportunity to do a real one, I was so ready to love it. Unfortunately I did not enjoy this at all. Escape rooms should feel like puzzles. You should understand what you’re supposed to be doing while having clear mental challenges to overcome. This was not that. It was just finding a piece of paper and trying all of the random numbers on the many different locks in the room until one opened. Even after opening the lock and trying to find what clue was pointing at that particular lock was I confident that there was nothing. It was truly random and so I rarely felt as though I was accomplishing anything. I had to press the clue button so many times for things that just were not puzzles and really just “remember those random numbers? Try those on that lock.” I seriously would love a rework and a crew of people to truly develop a satisfying experience. I felt scammed almost because of the price and the lack of effort. I mean, once you have the puzzles, you will have them forever so I don’t understand why there was any need for just random number for random locks. I actually found this place after a google search for “best escape rooms in San Antonio” and this place was number 1. I really don’t understand that at all? Who is ranking these? Because it’s certainly not people that have been to other escape rooms or felt what it’s like to be in a well thought out...
