Native Poppy — Local services in San Diego

I used Native Poppy for a la carte flowers which allows you to order only what you need; your ‘custom color palette,’ and custom amount of flowers and sizes. A la carte does not include a full service florist price tag but also with the knowledge that you cannot have your preference of flower type and will need to do some work i.e. placing the flowers.

Native Poppy was incredibly accommodating — they allowed me to order a large quantity of flowers and even order separate flowers for an arch. My wedding day flowers were a dream and I would recommend Native Poppy to anyone.

My 1 star deduction came from miscommunications leading up to the date, and the feeling that the price tag did not match the service as I began to surpass full service florist pricing in San Diego (although I knew I was paying for the NP style — I love their style).

I think Native Poppy is killing it with their flowers, but definitely think there can be some improvement in understanding exactly what the customer wants. For example, Image 2 is a stark contrast from Image 1 and 3, and nothing like what I had described in my masses of notes I sent over to customize my flowers for a la carte. Image 1 and 3 nailed it.

Maybe an interactive quiz, consultation, or free preview bouquet with your order over x amount of $ would would help with this and mitigate any room for anything subjective.

UPDATING MY REVIEW: Sara from Native Poppy quickly reached out to me to make things right after the holiday weekend. We got the flowers redelivered and the recipient absolutely loved them. THANK YOU NATIVE POPPY!!! The flowers were gorgeous and so glad we were able to sort it out!!

ORIGINAL REVIEW: I am so bummed - I really wanted to love this place as I appreciate supporting local small businesses. I ordered flowers for a friend's birthday to be delivered on a Saturday, as their delivery windows were super limited and they wouldn't deliver on a Tuesday, so I paid extra for a Saturday delivery.

The delivery driver had trouble finding the place which is understandable -- he did call and leave me a message which was appreciated.

I called him back and asked if I could pick them up, or if I could grab them from the shop.

He told me neither was an option and I would need to wait until Tuesday to get a solution from customer service. By then the flowers were not usable.

I waited on Tuesday to get a call from customer service and they hadn't called.

So I had to call them.

Was told that I would need to place another $200 order because the address was undeliverable.

Even though we've sent flowers, gifts and orders to this address for years.

The customer service rep had no other solutions for me other than placing another order.

If you're totally fine with super limited delivery windows and unavailable customer service,...

Had such high hopes because their IG account is so pretty but flowers were a huge disappointment. Wilted and in poor condition. Photos were taken just one day later. I went to my friend's house who had received them and was so embarrassed. The wilted sagging arrangement was next to other healthy beautiful arrangements she received the same day on her birthday. Not a repeat for sure.

Updating this review as again am saddened by the service. I was so surprised and grateful that someone replied to this review offering to make the experience right. I emailed the address below with my order number and stating this review. No one ever replied. Confident there may be a reply posted here soon about "not receiving my email" but like the "weather" mentioned below (perfect weather the day the flowers were delivered & following), it comes across as a genuine and sincere reason but unfortunately follow through has come up short.

Before buying , thought everything was stunning. Website, shop, social media etc. Given the beauty I was willing to pay a little more than other options believing to support a local business and gift flowers to a friend in a beautiful way.
