Last year I was planning to propose to my girlfriend, and I was fortunate enough to have an asset in doing so: my mother’s engagement ring and wedding band from my father back in the 80’s.
However, there were some changes that needed to be made to prepare the ring for my engagement. Most notable of these was the fact that the ring was silver, and my now fiancé was clear that she wanted a gold band for her skin tone. This meant that I had diamonds to use, but had to figure out a way to put them in a suitable ring.
Previously to learning about the need for this change, I had met Robere when I came into his shop to get the existing ring fixed up (damaged prongs, polish, etc.). I knew exactly where to go when I learned of the major change that was needed.
I ended up working with Robere’s son, Jonathan, when I came with the new request. It was clear I was working with an expert, Jon was consultative and helped come up with the perfect design for the new ring. He developed a 3D render of the expected result, and we were good to go.
The result was absolutely stunning. My fiancé loved it, thought it was perfect, and has received countless positive comments from all kinds of people over the past year of wearing it. Everyone tells me that I nailed it with the ring.
If you have any custom jewelry needs, Robere’s is the way to go. They are knowledgeable, trustworthy, and fairly priced. I feel comfortable knowing that if I ever have any future jewelry-related needs, I am confident that I can always turn to the team of experts...
Read moreLike a den of thieves. Given a bigger sized loaner ring to use with a full payment to cover it if lost for a wedding ceremony. Ring was returned and accepted. They tried to raise the price from about $1500 to $2400. No ring, charge is there and now I'm still disputing the almost $1500 charge. Hope these crooks go out of business. I'll certainly be happy to post the court case and information soon. They should be ashamed and embarrassed to do business like this.
MY ASWER TO YOUR RESPONSE: Business must be tough. Glad it’s public. Your quoted language below in itself is enough response…
“you are getting married that afternoon and asked if you could borrow two wedding bands.”
*“When you came in you expressed that ultimately you wanted two 18 karat matching classic wedding bands. So I offered to let you borrow two of my sample bands.”
*“I let you borrow it and you paid $1470”
*“I would have gladly let you keep the existing one you borrowed and even sized it for you. But to expect a new one to be made for the same price is unreasonable.”
