Great place to get last minute Alcatraz inside audio tours. By last minute I mean days before the tour!!! I wish their website had been a little more detailed about the process of claiming your tickets after online purchase. I had to call a few times to clarify exact how I was supposed to get my tickets. They were very helpful over the phone. To save everyone some confusion: After online purchase you get a voucher for the tickets. You need to go to Alcatraz Bikes and Tours physical location on Post Street to pick up the actual ticket codes. Post street is no where near the wharf and so take a little Pl it of advanced planning on your part to make sure you have time to get there and pick up the tickets and get down to the wharf before your boat tour. (Prob like 40min transit time in an Uber both ways not as rush hour) l. Once you have your codes from Alcatraz Bike and Tours you need to go down to the wharf to schedule your bay cruise and pick up those tickets. We did the combo Alcatraz inside tour as well as the Bay Cruise. When we purchase we picked the date and time of the Alcatraz inside tour. That doesn't change but the Bay Cruise can be scheduled any day or time. It runs every hour and you just go and pick what time you want down at the wharf....

Awful experience. Rented a bike around 3pm and they recommended me to rent for 24h as they would close at 6pm. Price was around 40-50 USD for 24h. I signed the contract and hired the insurance (+7 USD). They provided me a lockpad and recommended me to lock my bike on the street bike rack when I came back, and return it 8 in the morning the next day when they opened. I came back from my tour, locked the bike literally in the rack in front of their shop and kept the key to return in the morning. During the evening someone stole the front wheel and they charged me extra 60 USD to cover that. Of course I understand this can happen but 1) why to offer an insurance if it doesnt cover robbery? 2) why recommending me to lock the bike in the rack if they KNEW it was dangerous and would not cover my expenses with their recommended insurance? I believe they acted in bad faith, did not provide me proper instruction and basically recommended me to do what I should not be doing. As a tourist I relied on what they oriented me and in the end, I spent more than 100 USD for a bike rental. Dont recommend, not only it is expensive, they did not provide enough info, bikes were old and its dangerous to have a bike locked in public street...

I used Alcatraz Gifts & Tours to rent a bike to tour San Francisco and had absolutely the worst experience. I would never recommend this place to anybody. In the middle of switching gears on the terribly maintained bike, the chain got jammed and made it impossible to continue riding the bike. After calling the company, the rescue service which claimed would take 10 mins took over 45 mins. The moronic driver told me, a tourist in city, to find him at a restaurant without providing me with an address. It only got worse from there. After receiving the new bike, which they pretty much jettisoned, I noticed that the front breaks were not operational. In the middle of crossing the Golden Gate Bridge, the rear breaks also fell apart causing me to accelerate downhill. I was able to stop the bike only by crashing into the fence creating a bloody mess. When I called Alcatraz for the rescue service, they claimed it would take too long to send a car and told me to walk the bike to the nearest town of Sausalito and take the ferry back to San Francisco. This process took nearly 4 hours. After finally returning bike Alcatraz still charged me for the...

The best way to explore San Francisco! I had a great experience renting a bike with Alcatraz Bikes and Tours! I took a map with them and planned my trip to cross the golden gate for the first time - see my pictures. I was super welcomed by them! It was almost 30km (or almost 19 miles) from the renting store, then to the Ferry Building and then following the main tourists points like pier 39, Bay Ferry, Lombard street, Ghirardelli Square, Golden Gate National Park and finally crossed the golden gate. Then I returned to the same path, but this time through the Italian neighborhood to have a good lunch with pasta. Then, passed by the Chinatown and returned to the renting store. Suggestion: book your bike from the website to get a discount. Stay prepared with solar protection, water, cap and a nice jacket to protect from the cold.

We rented bikes for our family (kids are 7, 11 and 13) near Union Square and rode down to the Ferry Building, along all the piers, stopped to see the sea lions in Fisherman's Wharf, continued t the Golden Gate Bridge, and to Sausalito. We then rode the ferry back to the Ferry Building ($14 / adult, $7 per kid) and returned the bikes near Union Square. Our kids loved it! It was 13+ miles of riding total but most of it is flat. There are two hills leading up to the bridge and one longer hill down and another back up going to Sausalito. The rest is flat if you follow the instructions they give you. One tip, if you start early in the AM, bring gloves! Our hands were really cold moving on the bike in late March. Highly recommend this tour if you want to see a lot of San Fran and the surrounding area by both land and sea.
