Pretty pricey, but good quality. Not recommended for take out.
For those familiar with the old tenant, Sugar Cafe this place is half the size. A full bar, decent amount of table seating and taco bars make for some pretty smart interior designing.
Ordered: Brussel Sprouts - for $8, this was kind of a rip off. Not gonna lie. You get maybe a cup (see picture) worth of sprouts. Sprouts still in bright green form and held its integrity, pretty healthy. They were tangy and spicy with a hint of sweetness. Sunflower seeds with the dish was a nice touch, different.
Carnitas tacos (2) $11- Came with two corn tortillas, street sized. The pork was very tender and juicy, cut into large inch and a half chunks. Pork had good flavor, would order again.
Steak tacos (2)$11- Came with one flour tortilla, a bit bigger than street sized. Again, large chunks of meat, and cooked very well. Beef was flavorful and tender.
I asked the waiter if this was enough for two people and he said it was perfect. Truthfully, I think we could have eaten another dish...and we're not big eaters. Tacos don't come with rice or beans and if you don't order any sides or apps, be prepared to walk out hungry. Meat to tortilla ratio was good, but the tortillas got pretty soggy by the time I brought the meal home and I live pretty close. I'd give this another shot as the quality of ingredients were fresh and the...
Read moreVisited the restaurant on our visit to San Francisco. The restaurant was close to our hotel and on the way to the Big Bus Tours stop that we were going to so stopped to have lunch. They have quite a limited menu and the menu available at the restaurant is a bit different to the one you find online. There's a difference in the prices as well but it's not very extreme. We had the Margaritas with Mezcal and they were pretty good. The Mango margarita didn't have much of the mango flavour and the drink was very smoky for my taste but the Jalapeno one was pretty good. The chips and salsa were pretty delicious and seemed fresh as well. We tried the quesa Birria as well as the 3 for $18 tacos here. We had the fish, shrimp and chicken tacos and they were pretty good. The quesa Birria was really good and flavourful! The seating inside is pretty crowded and close together but it is also a very small space. The service was pretty slow and it seemed like the server didn't really want to answer the questions we had. Glad we chose to sit inside or else the service would have been slower! Good thing we knew what we wanted but that was definitely a dampener. If you are in the neighborhood, would definitely recommend to go here for their...
Read moreThis place is amazing. As soon as I sat down Mario behind the bar greeted me; made me feel super welcome. I ordered a spicy Paloma, and it's probably the best one I've had in a while, and he doesn't taking the rim, he tajin's half the frickin' glass which is awesome. Then they brought out chips and guacamole or green sauce of some sort. It was nice somewhat thick texture, tart and flavorful, (nithing worse than a bland sauce)but the CHIPS, the chips kinda stole the show, which is odd. I just have never tasted chips that freshly toasted out of the oven before. I asked for more sauce, and he brought it right away with a whole new batch of chips. And the bacon wrapped1 poppers were excellent, and not your ordinary out of the freezer poppers. These bad boys were clearly made in the kitchen and they didn't disappoint. Compliments to the chef. Mario, without asking me, brought me a shot of their frozen passion fruit margaritas slushy. And that was also really really great. Wish I was hungrier, and didn't get buzzed so quick, but can't wait to go back. Great casual, spot for friends, family or a fun date with excellent, well, everything! P.s. almost forgot about the quesabirria. It was perfect. So good,...
