Our cruise was from LA to ensenada. Zero star for the queen bed mattress. Who uses 2 single mattresses on a queen bed? Whole night if u move little away from the edges you sink in the middle. Not at all sound sleep which is a must for any kind of vacation. Carnival Cruise should definitely address this important aspect of bedrooms.
Second disappointment was food options for vegetarians ( no eggs n no meat). They do not have desserts without eggs, imagine kids watching so many desserts throughout the cruise but ending up zero options without eggs, pizza quality was poor the one which was served to us was burnt. During one of the breakfasts we ordered a fruit platter n one slice of melon n honeydew was served which was not the usual case during other days of dinner, breakfast in sunset restaurant. The servers were not able to understand the definition of indian pure vegetarian dietary even after explaining in detail. We always ended up choosing something from the vegan menu n also were not served the way it was mentioned in the menu. We ordered avocado toast which clearly mentioned it will contain avocado, lime n vinegaret but the server served us avocado toast with a vegan egg on it. If the egg was not mentioned in the menu how can they be served that way. In all we didn't find hospitality to be a good one. Near the deck around the mexican, Burger n pizza counter it was a chaos n mess. They do not bother about veg n non veg coming in contact.
Didn't expect this kind of service on such a big cruise line.
The only thing we enjoyed was comedy shows, trivia, big wheely, art auctions etc to name a few. But art auction is also a trap we entered into a raffle where we were supposed to guess the weight of one art piece and if u r the winner you win a art piece. After spending 2 hours in auction they announced us as winner and the prize was not handed over to us infact they asked $35 for a tube of artwork which will be delivered later. So we ended up empty hand after spending such a huge amount of time n winning title.
But cannot go back to this cruise line with the big disappointment of the mattress n...
Read moreWe embarked on our first cruise which was in Alaska, and Canada. It took some getting used to the rocky waves. The experience overall was great. LiA our cruise director was great. She had a bright bubbly personality that made the experience even better. Getaway Island show was absolutely phenomenal. Casino paid me out on a few great hands. Let it Ride is a fun table game. It was my first time playing. Shahed, Jarome, Crystal, abo, akeem, John Paul, Elizabeth were so much fun we had such a blast with all of them! Table drink service can use some improvements as we found ourselves quite a few times waiting for almost an hour for drinks or servers literally only taking a few orders then disappearing for a long time. Food could improve as well. As a baker myself I found most breads to be overly dry and crunchy in texture. The coffee bar had the best desserts and cookies as well , I recommend the white chocolate macadamia nut cookies. The crab cakes at sea food corner were absolutely not to my liking as the texture was mushy and tasted really fishy. Guys burger place lacked flavor. We paid a pretty penny for the thing 1 and 2 breakfast and was very disappointed I got my red velvet french toast and once again the texture was wrong so they gladly brought me pancakes instead and he didn’t bring eggs until I had already finished my meal and it was bland fake scrambled eggs. In the future I probably wont pre pay for specialty dining unless Im certain of the quality. That being said room service was great Andhy was so sweet and showed excellent hospitality to us everyday. Not bad for our first experience. We made some beautiful memories on this adventure and look forward to many more...
Read moreLess than 30 minute wait before starting the process of checking in. 1st time cruisers should set TSA expectations then be happy when the wait is less. Make sure to set up Verifly in advance to save time if traveling during Covid Era. Carry on your own luggage if you didn't overpack. Otherwise they'll deliver it outside your room if you check it. Download the Carnival Hub App to get a map of the ship, check in for dinner and breakfast and stay up to date with events happening on ship including times restaurants and bars open/close. Turn on the TV in your room to see where the ship is on the ocean in real-time including the depth. There are cameras live streamed to the TV for certain areas of the ship. Helpful when trying to determine the least populated time to access certain areas. All tipping is added automatically to the card on file, but you can give more if you'd like. The food is mediocre-think geriatric or Midwest taste buds. Expect to see people past their limits with alcohol. There are quiet nooks if you visit spaces when there are no events happening. Offboarding is a stressful experience with obnoxious hung over people trying to cut lines or rush the process. Wear comfortable shoes and listen to the instructions then you'll be off the ship within an hour from the start of the process. Highly recommend rooms with a balcony for more space, but primarily for ventilation. The rooms get warm and bathroom smells are not...
