Casa Melissa — Hotel in San Francisco

Casa Melissa is without doubt the best hostel in San Francisco.

Its located right in the middle of North Beach and that means amazing restaurants around you, great bars for going out and everything what you need is close by. The Fisherman’s wharf, Chinatown and Ghirardelli Square are in a walking distance. The 45,30 and 8 bus stations are across the street. The neighborhood is safe and clean.

There is a kitchen and a laundry in the building which is way cheaper than the ones outside. The rooms are really good, they come furnished and some of them have amazing views on the Coit tower and Washington square. The building has an elevator.

The monthly rent is the same like in other Hostels, if not cheaper. The deposit is smaller than the monthly rent.

But the best thing about this place is definitely the manager. Ghulam will always be there for you, he is super responsive and caring, if you have a problem with anything he will fix it super fast and if you need help with something he will be...

My wife and I lived in Casa Melissa for 2 years. It is a nice place located really close to a lot of touristic attractions and surrounded by varied and incredibly good restaurants (especially pizza!).

The place counts with multiple bathrooms and kitchens that are shared by the tenants. Common areas are cleaned every other day, and they are usually in good condition.

The front corner room where we lived had these huge windows, which kept the room with a nice lighting all the time and with a cool view to Washington Square park. During peak hours it could get noisy (especially Friday night).
