Columbus Residence — Hotel in San Francisco

If you are a student, a young professional just starting out, or an expatriate/traveler looking for a place for a long-term stay, then Columbus Residence is the perfect place for you. It's located on an exciting and convenient intersection between Chinatown, the Financial District, and North Beach--so not only are food and entertainment options are abundant, but you can easily reach your place of study/work quite easily. The overall aesthetics are really what win it out for me: has that early 20th-century classic feel but with all the modern amenities. This is a huge in a city like San Francisco because a lot of apartments are classic both in feel and amenities; Columbus Residence lets you access the building and your room via a mobile app and recently introduced a way to utilize and pay to do your launder via a mobile app as well. Seriously convenient, no more hauling quarters for me!

Keep in mind this is a dorm-style living; kitchen and bathrooms are shared while rooms are private. Rest assured, everything is well-maintained and cleaned thanks to management. Speaking of management, I want to give a big shout out to the building supervisor, Jesse, and his colleague Omar. They're the friendliest and most helpful building attendants I've had the pleasure of dealing with. Should you have any issue with your stay, Jesse is readily available via text to help out, which had come in handy the few times I was stuck outside the building or was worried about a package coming in.

Strongly suggest you select a room that's inward facing; street-facing rooms have a few issues with noise coming from the Kells, a bar around the corner, plus passing vehicles.

I can honestly see myself coming back to rent/renew a lease to this place, given how convenient it's located and how well I was treated...

I've been part of what we like to call the "Columbus Family" since September 2015. While pursuing my masters degree, Columbus Residence has become my home for the year. There are many things that makes Columbus Residence a great place to stay/live. First of all, the cleanliness. The cleaning crew are kind and hard working; they are in charge of keeping all rooms and common areas in great shape. Likewise, they are always available to help with day-to-day residents needs. Second, the administrative personnel. Mike and his team are always welcoming and helpful. They all care for the residents well-being and walk-the-talk when it comes to customer service and hospitality at all times. Third, the location. Columbus Residence is steps away from the Financial District and at the heart of North Beach, where all the best Italian restaurants meet China Town and historical landmarks, such as Coit Tower and Lombard Street. Finally, the price. Columbus Residence allows students and recent graduates to live in a comfortable place at an affordable price. My first experience living solo in San Francisco and of all the places I viewed, I instantly fell in love with Columbus Residence. The location is perfect, right off of North Beach, Jackson Square, FiDi and Chinatown. You can get anywhere in the city by walking or public transport. The nightlife is great with restaurants, bars, entertainment, clubs, etc. There is always something to do! You feel right at home and well taken care of when you meet Jesse, the property manager. He goes above and beyond for all his tenants. His communication is stellar, he's on top of any issues or challenges that you have weather in the room or common spaces, he always has a smile on his face and is readily available via text or sometimes you'll see him in the hallways. Jesse and Omar are lovely people who will take care of you first. Since this is a shared space, all common areas including the kitchen, bathrooms, showers are all kept clean by the amazing housekeeping crew. The rooms are cozy, but it's all you really need for a comfortable stay. All tenants here are friendly, I barely here noise from my neighbors, and it feels safe inside and out.
