To be honest, this was one of the cheapest options available when booking our hotel in San Fran so we decided to go for it and we are glad we did. The location of this hotel was perfect for us. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go, such as Fisherman's Wharf, Union Square, Lombard Street, etc. plus we had the experience of being in China Town, which is such a fantastic experience.||||The hotel itself was brilliant. The reception staff were polite and knowledgeable and couldn't have helped more. I didn't know what to expect, but it's certainly bigger in real life.||||The room was dated but was of good size and included your own bathroom. It came with what you would expect from a hotel, such as hairdryer, Iron and Ironing board, and TV. There was no tea or coffee making facility in the room, but there was a fridge.||||The bed was comfy and I slept well each night. The room does have aircon and heating, so you can adjust the temperature to suit yourself, which was a nice bonus. If you do open your windows like we did on the first night, bear in mind it can get VERY noisy, even at 3am we had a few issues. ||||The bathroom was big and came with a bath and over bath shower. I found the shower pressure to be good and the water was always hot. They do supply shower gel, shampoo and soap, just in case you forgot yours and the towels were changed daily.||||The hotel has no bar or restaurant so bear in mind you need to leave the hotel for a drink or to have food. That said, breakfast was included in our rate and even though it was just a continental breakfast, it was perfect. The waffles are AMAZING!||||Coffee and tea is served in polystyrene cups, so if you want your drink in a decent cup, I would suggest bringing your own mug or buy one from the local gift shop.||||All in all we had a great time and would defiantly stay...
Read moreDo not stay here. This hotel is not at like the descriptions. Upon arrival there was nowhere to park so we called the desk and they let us in the underground garage. That part was fine. Except there was only one other car. That should have been our first red flag since it was later in the evening that we were checking in. |We asked to see our room before checking in and it was small and not at all accommodating for two women. There was only one bed (which to save money we did on purpose) and no where to put our things, but we decided we would check to see if they could give us a different room or make it work. |We then checked in and took the one bed. The price to change rooms was almost double what we paid so we decided against changing rooms, so we brought up our luggage. Again noticing that noticing that there was only other car and one other person we saw, which was the receptionist. We go into our room set our luggage down and inspect the room a little more. |The bed was incredibly firm. It did not have a fitted sheet, only a flat sheet tucked under and the blanket was a foam one, there was no real blanket. The refrigerator was broken and making loud noises, there was no safe, no curtains, and the faucet was leaking from the handles. We were not given enough towels or pillows for two people. |We set our stuff down and went out to dinner. When we came back the hotel was still empty. But we pushed on and then noticed there was no lock on the door apart from the key deadbolt used to get in. There was nothing stopping anyone from having another key and walking right in. |The website describes this place as an upscale boutique hotel with Chinese artwork. There was none....
Read moreI was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. For the price, I was expecting to put up with some serious drawbacks, but I didn't have to at all! The value was great. Everything was very well maintained - better than what I am used to at Hilton or Marriott properties. The amenities are simpler, but compared to the pricing of the superchain properties on the peninsula, I would pick this again gladly. The staff were attentive, accommodating, and professional.
Only a few cons: The bed was firmer than most Americans would prefer, as is typical for a Chinese hotel. The neighborhood can be loud in the fun part of the evening thanks to live entertainment nearby. Finding your room with the floor layout may be confusing the first time.
They stored my bags both before check-in and after check-out which was very nice. The location is great - you can walk to many authentic Chinese establishments and a ton of Italian restaurants and cafes in North Beach. I enjoyed. No car needed either - frequent bus service from multiple lines with stops less than a block away made getting anywhere in SF easier than I expected (use Google Maps for transit directions).
Everything was very clean. Make your own plans for breakfast/coffee and enjoy...
