Golden Star Tattoo — Local services in San Francisco

Had one of those unforgettable moments in San Francisco. I spotted my first hummingbird and knew I wanted to turn it into a permanent memory. I was set on getting the tattoo in Chinatown, so I did some digging and came across Golden Star Tattoo. Couldn’t be happier with that decision.

Met Tea (insta - @415Tea), and right away I felt like I was in good hands. He got the vision, loved the story behind it, and was genuinely excited to work on it.

I sent him some pics and ideas, and he came back with a design that nailed it. The realism on the hummingbird is wild! so much detail, it almost flutters off my skin. The enso circle gives it this perfect flow, and the colors are spot-on.

We placed it on my rib, which is no joke when it comes to pain, but Tea made the whole process smooth and easy. We made a small tweak to the design on the day, which he had no problems with, and we played around with placement until we got it right… three tries, no stress. Super chill, super professional.

My boyfriend and I went on vacation to get matching tattoos. The service was great, and the artist was very nice. However, the tattoos turned out awful. I have over ten tattoos, and I’ve never had one heal the way this one has. According to my tattoo artist friends, the needle speed was way too fast, which likely caused the poor healing. Both of our tattoos are healing strangely, and I’ll need to get mine fixed.

We were each charged $200, totaling almost $500, which wouldn’t have been an issue if the tattoos had turned out well. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case, and now we have to spend more time and money to fix them. I was just visiting the area back in May when I decided I wanted to get tattooed! The restaurant that I was at recommended Golden Star tattoo shop and it just happened to be within walking distance, so I went with my friend.
