Disappointing Experience at Omni San Francisco
Having stayed at various Omni properties before, I had high expectations for our visit, but unfortunately, this stay did not meet the standard of service we have come to expect from Omni Hotels.
From the moment we checked in, we encountered a series of issues that significantly impacted our stay. Upon arrival, our luggage was misplaced in the wrong room, causing us to wait over two hours to retrieve it. This delay not only inconvenienced us but also set the tone for the rest of our stay.
After receiving our luggage, we realized our jackets were also misplaced, which resulted in us missing more than half of the Giants baseball game we had tickets to. The mishandling of our belongings was incredibly frustrating and put a damper on our plans.
On the day of check-in, I called housekeeping around 4:30 PM to request a change of bedding after my toddler had an accident (we didn’t have his pull-up because our luggage was still lost). Despite assurances that the bedding would be changed, we returned to our room at 10 PM after the game to find the bed still unmade, with no fresh sheets provided. After calling the front desk, we had to wait an additional 30 minutes for bedding to arrive, and when it did, we were simply handed stacks of flat sheets with no comforter. We were expected to make the bed ourselves at 10:30PM, which was another unpleasant surprise.
We also encountered issues with basic amenities. We had some leftover food stored in our room's refrigerator that we were unable to heat up because there was no microwave available. When we inquired about using one, we were told there was no microwave available for guests.
The challenges continued until the very end of our stay. On checkout day, we requested a bellman to assist with our luggage. After waiting over an hour with no one arriving, I called the front desk again to follow up and was told that someone would be sent immediately. Only after this follow-up did someone finally arrive to assist us.
Overall, this stay at the Omni San Francisco was by far the worst experience we have had at an Omni property. Had this been our first time staying at an Omni hotel, it would have been our last. However, we have had positive experiences with Omni in the past, which is why this stay was so surprising and disappointing.
I wanted to bring these issues to the hotel manager’s attention in the hope that future guests will not have to endure the same inconveniences. We sincerely hope that our next stay with Omni will reflect the high standards of service we have come...
Read moreMy wife and I didn't know what to expect when we arrived at the Omni San Francisco. Although the Omni brand is one we've come to trust (we'll be celebrating our anniversary at another Omni in a month), each hotel is different, just as each city is different. But we needn't have worried. The Omni San Fran had us covered!||We were greeted by the well-dressed doorman Darryl, who welcomed us with a smile and helped us with our bags, opening the hotel door with a flourish so we could enter. We made our way across an beautiful lobby to the front desk, where we were checked-in by Destiny and our "Chief Host", Manager Firaaz. As we were doing the paperwork, Darryl strolled across the lobby singing in a pleasing baritone. "He does that sometimes," Firaaz told us.||Upstairs, we found a lovely room with a view of the harbor (this is not common, so I wouldn't count on it, but it's worth asking for), 2 cushy robes, and an attractive bathroom. The beds were very comfortable, and we slept well every night.||We truly enjoyed our stay at the Omni. The gym was great, which made my wife and I happy, since we like to work out. Everyone of the staff we met helped us feel welcome and assisted us to navigate around San Fran when we needed it. Destiny and L.A. at the front desk were kind and caring. The other doorman, Gerardo, was there to greet us (coming or going) most of our stay and was also a class-act: sharply dressed, funny and interested in where we were heading to or where we'd been. The Omni has an stylish bar captained by Mo, who has a sharp sense of humor while dispensing terrific local beers, wines, and spirits. When I said I was on a diet, he told me he was cutting me off at only one Black Cherry Lava Cake (with Ghirardelli chocolate -- delicious!) Then he relented and said I could order another one (which I didn't).||San Francisco is an elegant city, and the Omni is an elegant, warm and friendly place to stay when you visit. It's within walking distance of the bay, and is central to most everything. But most importantly, you can be sure, if you choose the Omni San Francisco as your hotel, you will feel like you're staying in a really special place, and that Firaaz and his team will take really...
Read moreI want to preface this review by saying that I don’t write many reviews in general. However, I’ve seen many great spaces in San Francisco suffer or close down since the pandemic, so given my experience with the Omni, I’m compelled to spread the word to do my individual part to support a fantastic business in my community. ||So my experience with the Omni was probably different than most reviews on here, in that the Omni was the host of an annual conference that I myself organized. And the Omni could not have more been amazing to work with! When I received different bids/offers from hotels in the area, the Omni’s proposal stood out from the get-go in terms of the professionalism of their presentation, and the services they could offer.||We’re a small organization, and the conference was also probably smaller than the typical conference at a hotel, but our team there (shout out to Solomon and Jagoda!) was amazing in working with us to manage costs while not sacrificing the quality of the experience for the attendees. This was especially appreciated considering that I had never organized a conference prior to this, and they explained everything and answered all of my many questions thoroughly and clearly, so that I could be informed and be comfortable with whatever decision I was making.||The Omni had won me over from the start, yet still managed to exceed expectations. Throughout the conference, attendees consistently came up to me to praise the food, service, and environment of the conference. And the experience with the AV was so smooth; even though some of our AV needs were complex, the in-house AV team ensured that everything went seamlessly.||So the take-home is that, if you’re looking to hold a conference in San Francisco, I can’t recommend the SF Omni highly enough. Our group will definitely be back next year. Organizing a conference is not for the faint of heart, but I do take great comfort knowing that I’ll be in the best of hands throughout the process. Thanks...
