Today was my first time getting a manipedi from Luxury Spa. I wanted to try a new place since the one near my place is always busy and it's hard to find parking. It's a somewhat new nail salon. I think the employee said it's been three years on Balboa street. The neighborhood is safe but it's only street parking. It's meter parking, but if you're willing to park a few blocks away, you can find free street parking or you can take the 31 Balboa MUNI bus line, so you don't have to worry about parking at all. Inside the salon, it's very clean and neat. There are four massage chairs for clients that want a manicure and pedicure and additional four seats who just want a manicure. There is also a small private room for waxing services. They have a large selection of nail polish colors and brands, but if you pick the luxury brands like Chanel, it will cost $3 extra. It's been TWO YEARS since I've been to a nail salon and the prices have increase due to inflation and the increase of minimum wage in SF. It's my birthday, so I spent a lot of money to treat myself. I got the dark purple chrome gel manicure which is an additional $20 because the cost of the powder used for the chrome colors is very expensive. I'm glad I got an early afternoon appt because I was there for almost two hours and more clients and walk ins started to arrive. There were four employees working but only one girl is trained to do the chrome gel manicure and nail art. All the employees are nice and professional. Overall I recommend this nail salon if you live in the Richmond district.

I had an extremely disappointing experience at this nail salon. The salon was dirty, and the staff didn’t wear uniforms, which made everything feel even less professional. The manicure was rushed and finished in about 40 minutes, while a proper Russian manicure usually takes around 2 hours. Everything was done very quickly and carelessly. The cuticle work was poorly done, and after just three days, my nails started lifting from the nail bed. Dirt began collecting between the polish and my natural nails, making the manicure look very dirty and unkempt. I will never go back to places like this again and would not recommend them to anyone. From now on, I will only get Russian manicures — they are much cleaner, more professional, and last much longer.

UPDATE: 2 years later, this spot is still awesome and even better! Now they have special nail effects like cat eye (in the pics) and mirror style. Loooove. They do the effects perfectly. Makes me feel like a super star 💫 [First review] I am a repeat customer at Luxury Spa. They are a new, family-owned business that is a great addition to our neighborhood. Clean, friendly, and honestly the best selection of colors I know of. Not a million colors to sift through, just awesome, high-quality choices. Cool effects are available, like matte (shown in the pic) and glitter. Appointments are highly recommended! You’re lucky to get a walk in especially on the weekend.
