I used to frequent Sushi Bistro in its original space. Since Covid, the owner David Chief, moved to the other side of the street. I went there about a month ago, in November 2021. Outdoor dining only. No problem. The problem arose when I couldn’t scan the menu, because I didn’t have my phone with me. The only available menu was laminated and posted on the window a way above my head. I couldn’t read it, because 1) it was too high (I am 5’5”). 2) It was pitch dark at 8 pm, and the street lighting was really lousy. The restaurant outside lighting was not any better. 3) The menu was printed in small font. 4) I am vision impaired. Waiter was extremely rude and actually made nasty comments of my disability not to see well. We got into an argument and I left. He was more than unwilling to accommodate me in any way or form. Today, I decided to stop by, and see if the owner, David Chief, was there. He was. But he was even ruder than his employee. I explained my problem. He got very offensive, and clearly could care less. He also insulted me about my vision impairment. Young people seem to like that nowadays: insult senior citizens and ignore them. I reminded him of the American Disability Act, but he didn’t seem interested. All I originally wanted is to have a menu in my hand that I can see and read or somebody telling me what was in menu. I already had a pretty good idea what I wanted to eat when I went there on the day when I had a fight with a waiter. Since this establishment doesn’t seem to be interested in customer service, the owner included, I will never step my foot there. Sakesan Sushi and Bistro on Clement Street was wonderful. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Food...
Read moreI've been waiting to come back to this place so I could actually take pictures! I love Sushi Bistro. It's small and there's always a wait, but they make some great sushi creations. I've been to both the Inner Richmond and Mission locations and they're roughly the same size/wait. Their fish is really fresh though and I love their apps.
Hot Love - baby lobster, avocado and crab meat rolled in snapper. I don't usually like baked things, but this one was SO yummy. One of my fave apps.
Tempura Appetizer - tempura fried veggies and shrimp. Pretty standard.
7-flavor Albacore Salad - seared albacore with seven spices served with fried onions and green salad. I LOOOOOOVE albacore so therefore I loved this app. This could also serve as an entree
Monster In-Laws - chopped spicy albacore topped with yellowtail, jalapenos, and spicy ponzu sauce. If you can't handle spicy, then make sure to take the jalapenos off. Other than that, it was a mediocre roll.
African Spider - soft shell crab, tobiko, deep-fried cajun albacore and salmon topped with avocado, eel sauce, and spicy sauce. Another mediocre roll. I'm not a fan of tempura though.
M&L Forever - spicy tuna, crab meat, cajun flavored albacore, and grilled big eye tuna inside a crispy exterior drizzled with bonito sauce. Hands down my favorite roll of the night. We all agreed that this was the best roll that we ordered.
Red Devil - butterfish tempura, aioli, avocado and cucumber topped with spicy tuna, scallions, and red serano ginger sauce. Filled with brown rice, I'd have to say this was my...

Wow, what incredibly inventive, diverse and delicious sushi creations. Sushi Bistro really only has a few peers in this regard in terms of quality and creativity and I was fortunate to sample some of their special items from the menu. The first dish, the Butterfish Blasters, demanded attention right away: snow crab with creamy avocado wrapped in tender butterfish and seared with a perfect amount of garlic soy. Next to arrive was the Five Wishes, essentially a rainbow roll without the rice. It was perfectly crafted and held together tautly somehow like magic, it melted in my mouth with each bite. Last, I had the Sexy Scallop: a mix of spicy white tuna, salmon, avocado with chopped scallop on top. Slightly savory, it still had freshness bursting with each bite. Three in a row and all hits, that's rare.
You pay for what you get though and their sushi is definitely on the pricier side but worth it in my opinion. Looking forward to checking out the other creations. Now I just wish they offered...
