Looking for something different to do during the Christmas holiday season while my family were visiting Union Square, I came across the San Francisco Ghosts: Gold and Ghouls Tour and was not disappointed! Our tour guide, Mike, is very knowledgeable about San Francisco, and shared his knowledge of the history of buildings and ghostly legends as he took us on a walking tour of the Union Square area and Nob Hill. Although I grew up in SF, I learned so much more about this beautiful city with its sometimes tragic history. We stopped at buildings that I probably had passed by a hundred times without knowing what they were about! The tour was a good combination of the City's history and spooky stories and things that make you go "hmmm." I've never participated in a ghost tour, but this didn't feel cheesy or touristy as I thought some ghost tours might. Plan to do some walking up hills (it IS San Francisco afterall) and wear comfortable shoes but be assured Mike let us all take our time and rest breaks if needed. Our tour went over the hour advertised, but I think that was because there was so much to tell, and the group wanted to know more. Mike was always willing to answer our questions. No one complained about the time. I highly recommend this tour. Mike and his charming little dog, Oakley, are wonderful hosts. Ghost tours aren't just for Halloween! Athough not required, consider tipping -...
Read moreDid the pub crawl and it was amazing! I used to work in this area for years and had no idea there were so many ghosts in the area. Our tour guide, Michaela knew so much about the history of the area and had ghost stories from all of the places we visited. She took us down alleys, and back streets to show us real San Francisco landmarks from the Barbary Coast and tell the untold tales of hauntings. It’s a busy area so it was very cool to go off the beaten path and be standing in a place where ships had been abandoned or people had been shanghaied into being sailors. Each bar we went to had great cocktails and we had the perfect amount of time between bars. We’d grab a drink, get to hear a specific story of a death or a haunting, and on our walk to the next bar we would stop at specific places to get more stories. I also loved that Michaela brought historical pictures to give us an even better visual of what the area was like throughout history. And even through we didn’t need to walk very far between bars, there were stories from the days of the 49ers up to current day hauntings. Definitely would recommend if you’re looking for a spooky...
Read moreGamin was my sister and I’s tour guide for the night and she honestly could not have given us a better experience! She went into such amazing detail about the history and lesser known kept secrets of SF; not to mention she was so witty and hilarious. She seriously is the best of both worlds, her stories will give you chills and make you laugh at the same time. I’m a sales woman and she had me sold! She was so friendly, it really felt like a good friend was showing us around the city-she also brought her incredibly cute dog, Hermes along who made it all the more fun. You can tell she loves what she does and is passionate about it, she even recommended some great bars to us afterward. I’ve been to these tours before and wouldn’t recommend anyone else, you’ll get an experience worth way more than what you’ll pay and love every minute of it. I’m an SF local and still learned so much about the city, I truly recommend it to any...
