I had an extremely upsetting experience at Sassy Nails that I wouldn’t wish on anyone. I came in as a walk-in on a quiet Tuesday afternoon — the salon was completely empty, so I expected a calm and easy visit. I told the two older ladies at the front that I wanted a full set of acrylic nails. They told me it would be $65 and up depending on length and shape. I was shown a chart, and I clearly pointed to the “short almond” style, which they confirmed would be $65. I agreed and sat down.
A man (who I later found out is the manager) and another woman began gluing on the tips. After doing just one nail, they told me the price would now be $75. I was confused and reminded them I had asked for the short almond length, which was supposed to be $65. They said okay and then cut the nails much shorter. When I mentioned that the nails were now shorter than the “short” option on their own chart, the manager said, “This length we give you is because you only want to pay $65.” That comment felt extremely rude and unprofessional.
At that point, I calmly said I wanted to leave. The manager agreed, saying, “Yeah, I think that’s better.” While they were removing the tips, both he and the staff continued blaming me, saying I didn’t want to understand their pricing, and kept deflecting all responsibility. The manager even started raising his voice, calling me “cheap” and accusing me of having high expectations for a low price. It escalated to the point where I was fighting tears after being ganged up on by the 3 employees. I’ve never had a salon experience that made me feel so humiliated and disrespected.
To be clear — I understand that pricing in San Francisco can be expensive, and I wasn’t trying to argue about that. I was simply going off the price I was originally quoted for the exact nail length and shape I had chosen. I shouldn’t be blamed for someone else’s miscommunication. There were no other customers in the salon the entire time — just me — so there was absolutely no reason for them to treat me with such hostility. The customer service was awful, and the manager in particular was incredibly rude and unprofessional.
I rarely leave reviews, but this experience really shook me. I don’t want anyone else to be treated...
Read moreThis place has been a hit or miss for me, not in terms of their work, but their attitude and service. First visit the technician was great, sweet and wanted to make sure I was happy with the end result. Second visit today, I showed a couple of photos, which one assumes is usual these days, and the technicians response was "pick from the colors we have, that's all we do"...ok, so I set out to try to recreate the look of glazed pink donuts myself. Asked her to try one nail first to make sure I liked it, and she said "if you don't like, you keep that nail", I laughed thinking she was joking...but no, she was serious. If you want a color from their catalog and to be "done with it", go here. If you are looking for nice attitude, on trend nails or nail design, please go elsewhere. That's what I'll do! (I went to their location...
Read moreUPDATE - the gel x nails that cost $100+ fell off after 4 days! And they won’t offer a refund (They said they would “fix it” - yeah, we aren’t going back in!) and blocked my number when I tried to call back to talk to the owner. Not a good way to run a small business!!
This place is the absolute worst at time management. You have to wait at least 45 minutes to start even if you have an appointment. (Which is also suspicious because they don’t seem to have any appointment book. Hmmm) they take as many people who walk in as possible - which only makes your wait time longer. it shouldn’t take 2.5 hours for a manicure. They have zero respect...
