Bacco — Restaurant in San Francisco

Incredibly underwhelmed with this experience. I ordered take out over the phone and was quoted 20 minutes. I got there on time, was greeted after standing for a couple minutes. They asked me what name the order was under but I hadn't been asked for a name. The server disappeared for a moment, walked back out and didn't say anything to me. After another 5 minutes, a woman came out, said it would be a moment and then left. Another 10 minutes later and I finally got rung up, and the food was out in another 5. Total of 20 minutes of waiting. The woman I placed the order with most certainly forgot to put it in to the kitchen and didn't just explain the mistake and apologize. It was not busy enough for a 40 minute wait time to feel justified. There was little communication about my order and it overall felt pretentious and like I was not worth their time. The food was mediocre at best, I ordered the Ravioli and at the price of $21, I feel like I could have made better at home. The side of bread I was given was stale. Who the hell serves stale bread? According to the other reviews, the bread usually comes with a pesto dipping sauce for it. Never got any. I should have just taken the drive and gone to Spiazzo Ristorante in West Portal. Won't be coming...

We went to the restaurant tonight and ordered to go. Food was ok (not great just ok) but service leaves a lot to be desired. I think the person who helped us is Shari (at least this name is in my receipt) was very rude from the beginning. After we told him our order he went to the register and he left without saying anything, so we waited at the entrance when he came back he made a very rude gesture telling us to move closer to the exit, which we did without complaining we then asked him how long we need to wait for our food so we could wait outside, again his answer was kind of rude. We waited outside and after a few minutes he came out with our food. We told him we need to pay and he made another rude gesture and went inside. One of us went inside too to pay for our food, and this guy just gave him the bill and disappeared again. In the end, another server charged us. I had a very pleasant experience. The food was very exceptional. Having spent some time in Italy myself (and having to eat out for every meal), I confidently found that the authenticity was unquestionable and very delicious. Another comment here mentioned octopus, which I had as an appetizer. If there was something I had to recommend in particular from my meal, this would surely be it.

I was also very pleased by the service. This was personally the second time I've been here — first time being when I was probably in diapers when it just opened...so I was pretty much a new customer again. It was evident that there are returning customers, yet my table was given the same friendly and dedicated service as everyone else. We had constant communication and acknowledgement from the waiter and passing staff. The food tasted and was prepared in an upscale fashion, but the service was family-esque.
