Urban Flowers — Local services in San Francisco

Very negative experience. The man who works there does not know anything about flowers at all. When I was there I was looking for help putting together a bouquet of flowers for a friend's birthday. He says that he doesn't do bouquet arrangements and he doesn't have any suggestions on what goes together with what. As I wander around aimlessly in the store without a clue on what would look good together in a bouquet, he stood there without offering to help. Granted there was definitely a language barrier, however I can guarantee you that my mother who speaks very very limited English would be able to sell you flowers with her hands and her facial expressions alone. I am very disappointed that a "flower shop" has someone without any experience with flowers or customer service experience. I left the store awkwardly despite the fact that it has a lot of varieties of flowers, some of which were very pretty. Completely and utterly disappointed with the flower arrangement I ordered for a friend's special birthday. I was expecting something much more substantial for 100 dollars. The color was good and it was simple as I had requested but this does not have the heft or look of 100 dollars worth of flowers (some of this amount was for delivery....a few blocks away). I had asked for something impressive, this was not. I guess 100 dollars in San Francisco will get you an arrangement that would cost 40 dollars in London where I live. I used to go to Urban Flowers when I lived in SF. Guess times have changed. Very disappointing and it made me a bit sad as I was hoping my friend would get a bouquet worthy of what I was spending. I just love this place! Anything from a small bouquet to a dramatic statement piece, they always knock it out of the park. Most recently, I went in and showed them an inspo pic and a budget for a bouquet I needed for my engagement party. They were so helpful and did an AMAZING job. I wish I got more photos of the bouquet at the party but our guests were drooling over its beauty! It received so many compliments. I am still enjoying it a week later in all its glory.
