I would say" The best Mexican food in the Castro." The restaurant is extremely clean, including the bathroom. The couple working that night, were gracias and patient. When you first arrive you are presented with too many good choices. From the overhead menu, to the steam table in front of you with beautiful braised and grilled meats. We tried the Carnitas plate. Delicious ,tender, slow braised pork. I passed on the salad, so we were given more tender pinto beans to complement the rice and pico de gayo. Good amount of steaming hot tortillas on the side. Very generous portion . We also tried the chicken mole burrito. Again, a very generous portion of braised pieced chicken in a mole sauce with some heat to it. Surprising. Delicious, and incredibly moist. We sat on the high back banquets by the window facing Castro street. The fog was coming in, and the goings on of the neighborhood passed by as we enjoyed our delicious food. The chilies relleno will be my order when we...
Read moreI was the only customer in the order line, yet was treated by a seemingly hurried, rushed staff (two ladies).
I paid about $15.00 for a super carne asada burrito. Typical beans, rice, a bit of lettuce, cheese guacamole, sour cream and salsa.
The only Augua fresca they had was Jamiaca (spell check) .
Upon eating the burrito I noticed that it was so bland. It literally tasted like nothing! It has a small single scoop of the meat, but was loaded (and bloated) with lots of beans and rice.
The bits of meat it had was also very bland. The only good thing about the food overall was that it seemed fresh (though bland).
I will not eat here again. There are too many better competitors that offer better tasting food and more balanced portions of the ingredients.
Overall I'd say this was, basura. And I regret giving these rush staff a...
Read moreMe and my coworkers went on Memorial Day and we liked the place. The staff was nice! The two men working there were fast with our order and were friendly. I was really impressed that they had a whole menu board dedicated to vegetarian burritos. I tried their Sautéed Mushroom Burrito and I was pleasantly surprised it had good flavor and the prices are great considering how expensive some other Mexican restaurants can. I see a lot of people complaining about the small amount of chips they give but I highly doubt those same people eat what they think is an ideal amount of chips. You go for the actual food not the chips. They’d probably throw the excess in the trash anyway. Overall, the food was great, the staff was nice and the atmosphere was cute and cozy. Give this place another chance if you haven’t...
