Tofu's Trading — Local services in San Jose

My friend and I stopped by after having lunch today to buy and open two packs for nostalgia's sake. We clearly didn't know much about anything in the store, but the employees didn't treat us any differently from those who clearly knew what they were doing, nor did they talk down to us in a condescending way. We asked for some advice about what packs would be fun, received a recommendation, and ended up pulling a demi-god pack, according to the employee who helped us open the packs and sort them so the best card would be at the end.

When putting the cards into some hard sleeves I had bought for two singles to send to my niece and nephew, the same employee came over to our table with a pack of thin sleeves to put our cards in when we were putting them directly in the hard plastic ones without any type of communication indicating we'd have to pay for them (perhaps in part of our cluelessness). We realized the mistake we made and bought a pack of soft sleeves during this process, but I think that gesture by the store employee really goes to show the kindness and attentiveness of the place. I come here as my last place when looking for reverse holos for Pokemon when mastersetting. I don't leave it last as a bad thing, but because I know I'll buy my simplified chinese boxes as this is one of the only stores in the bay with Simplified Chinese!

Anyway, they have bulk boxes but they also keep specific sets bulk in ETBs and they are FILLED with regular and reverse holos! I'm mastersetting Journey Together, and came with 54 RH, exs, and Full Art/SIRs to go...50 of them where the first two. I managed to find 34 RH and 1 ex! So now my count went from 54 to 20. I previously came to find my last cards for S&V base and also left with about 20 RHs back in April.

Going on a Friday at 12pm was also a great call as there were little to no people and the tables were available to use.

Great store, a favorite I tell my East Bay people about! Always worth the drive...

Came here for the first time today and I am very glad I did! I am just getting back into the TCG community and was looking for a new store to check out. Tofu's Trading is a fantastic shop, clean, cute, and from the people I met today a fantastic staff. The owner is super friendly and clearly very passionate about what she does which makes me want to come back even more.

Pricing in the shop is VERY competitive. Brick and mortar stores usually struggle and resort to price gauging but not here!

While the store may be small compared to some other shops that have been around for a long time they clearly do their best to stay as stocked as possible and if they don't have something in store it may be online.

Overall I would HIGHLY recommend checking out this shop if you are looking for a nice environment to shop, hangout...
