The people here are clueless-- or at least the person who was checking out my items cashpoint. I had a $5 off on any $40 purchase and bought 2 items that were exactly $40 subtotal. In addition, I had $3 in points I wanted to redeem. The subtotal should have ended up at $32 after both vouchers were applied. I found it suspicious at first when she scanned my $5 off on $40 purchase voucher because nothing went through even after she tried the second time. I even asked her to confirm whether that voucher was applied because nothing showed on the screen and she lied to me and said yes. I later checked the receipt and she only added the $3 off from my points and NOT the other voucher that she claimed she did. I immediately came back to ask her why the other voucher wasnt applied. She was confused and needed a manager for help. They both told me my subtotal was below $40 so it didn't go through. However, my 2 items WERE initally $40 subtotal. 1. Why would she lie to me then and tell me that the voucher DID go through at the time of the transaction? 2. That voucher did not go through at the beginning yet she ignored it and only added my $3 points afterwards which brought my subtotal below $40 and thought I wouldn't notice. Why didn't she add the $5 off $40 coupon FIRST when my subtotal was exactly $40? I know it's just $5 but like don't lie to your customers then??? This location is very low quality and needs to be re-evaluated. I left afterwards because I didn't want to argue but this isn't the first time I've had problems in this location so it deserves...
Read moreI went to the Ulta store at 31 Curtner Ave., in San Jose the other day (May 15, 2024) in the afternoon to buy some hairspray. The cashier asked for my phone number. I told her Iâd prefer not toâspam calls and all. She insisted she could not sell me the product until I provided my phone number. The manager was walking by at that moment. I asked him about the policy. He said âyesâ, that was the policyâthey wonât sell anything to anyone who didnât provide a phone number. I left.
The next day I went to another Ulta store in a neighboring city. They asked for the phone number. I declined. This time, the person said no problem and completed the sale.
It is clear there is some corporate marketing effort regarding getting customersâ phone numbers. What is also clear is the store on Curtner Ave. is using this as some strong-arm technique to get customersâ phone numbers. Whether it is to look good in the marketing campaign, or for some nefarious reason (maybe the manager doesnât want to sell to certain groups of people, or use the numbers for some personal reasonsâI donât know.) Whatever the reason, it could be a serious violation of customersâ rightsâeither as a whole, or against protected groups. Not to mention the fact that I am seriously reconsidering whether I want to continue giving Ulta...
Read moreWe went to the Ulta Beauty Salon for my daughterâs quinceanera a few weeks ago. All of the damas, sisters and I had our makeup and hair done there. It was great! Mariel, the manager, was awesome from the first time we inquired about their services all the way to the very end. She answered all of our questions, made suggestions, helping us through the whole process. Very professional and organized. She even had her team come to the salon earlier than opening to be sure we were all done on time. There were 9 of us total and Mariel and her entire team did a great job getting us ready for the big day. Her team was very detailed in getting us ready and everyone was very happy with their hair and makeup. Mariel went above and beyond, decorating the salon in the color-theme of the quince and even brought in bagels, juice, cake pops for the girls to munch on. I canât thank her and her team enough for all they did for us on our daughterâs special day. I would definitely recommend them for your...
