Alright Halal Guys, you lived up to the hype. Since I haven't actually tried the original Halal Guys cart in NYC, I can't compare this place to that. However, even without a comparison, I can say with certainty that this place is delicious! Mostly known for their platters and the extremely spicy hot sauce, Halal Guys easily makes it as one of the top Mediterranean places to eat at. The orange-colored basmati rice, add some greens, and choice of protein (chicken, gyro, combo, falafel), LOTS of white sauce, and a tiny bit of hot sauce and you have a very palatable meal. Add more hot sauce if you dare, but be warned -- work your way up or you risk ending up with a platter so spicy that you can't even bear to chew! A few drops of it is enough for those with little to no tolerance of spicy things. 3-4 "lines" is enough for those who like their food SPICY. 5+ lines.. Well, you brave soul, you have basically entered uncharted territory. If you've already messed up when you thought you could handle the hot sauce, fret not, it's not a complete lost cause yet... I've found that if it's too spicy, adding more white sauce may help neutralize some of that heat.

Halal Guys also offer gyros if you don't want a whole platter, but having tried both, I prefer the platter. We also tried out their french fries once, but they were not crispy nor very flavorful.

While the food here was very yummy, I don't think I would crown it the best Mediterranean food I've had. As a person who loves chicken, the chicken here was a little underwhelming, while the gyro/beef was the opposite. I compromised and got a combo platter.

Service was okay, and varies greatly depending on who is helping you. Seating is limited as restaurant space is small, and there is no line if you go during off-peak...

No restroom! Don’t go! Don’t go if you think you will have to use a restroom, a bathroom, maybe you want to wash your hands, maybe you were holding it for long, well let me tell you, this is the wrong place to go. I am writing this to save time for people that are looking for food but also need to use the restroom, like it happened to me today, I was holding it for an hour, I ordered food, and I was denied bathroom use. Hello everyone, I went with my wife today November 21st at 3pm and I was the only costumer, there were 3 people working there. Anyways, I asked to use the restroom and I was denied its use, they said the restroom is not for use. Then I was eating my food and I heard one of the employees ask the manager for the bathroom key, he used it, the we all heard it flash, and he closed the door again. To make it short I think is a shamed that I spent nearly 50$ and on two wraps, and I couldn’t have access to a restroom, when I know that they don’t give you a restaurant type of license like this one if you don’t offer restroom for the costumers. Then I heard them say in my home language that they don’t want to give the key to costumer because they would have to clean. Pictures attached, my name is Raymond Marin. If I wanted to go to a place without restroom I would go to se street food vendor. I do not...

At this location they will wear gloves to dish/plate /package the food orders (not sure about the cooking preparation) BUT they are using the same gloves to handle the purchase ie credit cards ... so when they hand you the bag , the takeout box, the packaged sauces = same gloves that handled other peoples credit cards and possibly cash payments. I am not sure how often they are changing gloves but the 3-4 employees there that took and prepared my order definitely did not change gloves for my preparation or for the guy that was in front of me and most likely not for the people behind me. I don’t want to give bad reviews during this time but public deserves to know Solution: change gloves between costumers or have one person who is NOT handling the food do the order payments only Customer solution : use an anti-viral wipe to wipe down everything that was handed to you before eating it or taking it home Owner tip: phone calls was coming in but nobody was picking up = possible lost costumer business.

We arrived around 7:15pm Sunday October 11. The line wasn’t extensively long 3-4 more customers...

Well the long line should tell you that other people like this place. I on the other hand like to see foe myself. So i stood in line which moves steadily along, not a lot of choices but they have it down for what they do. I chose the combo platter because it looked like a lot of food. I then noticed the they pile the meats on top of a healthy heap of rice, which quite frankly i could do without in exchange for more meat. With that said they do offer extra protein. I like the no leak tin foil pans they use to package my meal. I think their drink selection could be expanded. I also got the hummus which comes with its own warmed pitas, good thing for 5$ and i thought it was ok not the best ive had but certainly not the worst. I think this place would be an amazing street vendor/food truck biz but it loses some appeal being a sit down joint with a lack of choices. All in all i would consider it for return but with so many great choices next door prolly not.

I finally got to try this place after all the hype and was it worth it? It was pretty good. Luckily there was no line. I got the small gyro platter, which I regretted later as I could have ate more, but maybe I was just super hungry that day. I was surprised that this was pretty good. For some reason, I expected the rice to be dry and I'm not a huge fan of any rice that's not Asian, but I actually liked it. I got the gyro for my protein and it was pretty good as well. I was also surprised that I actually like the white sauce as well because I usually don't like any time of white sauce. This one was actually garlicky and had good flavor and I wanted more, but was too lazy to go back to the counter. Watch out for that hot sauce though. It's pretty damn spicy. Overall, I thought it was pretty good and worth the hype. It helped that there wasn't a line either. I would go back and get the large plate next time.
