The Sofa Shop — Local services in San Juan Capistrano

We custom ordered a down sofa from The Sofa Shop about 5 years ago. When we first received the sofa, it had a "wet dog" smell to it. I contacted the store and they assured me that the smell would dissipate. It hasn't dissipated one bit over the years. I did a bit of research and its because down they used in the sofa wasn't fully de-oiled. They used low quality down that wasn't washed thoroughly. We have aired out every element of the sofa many times to no avail. I trusted them when they assured me that the smell would go away. I'm sure the synthetic products are decent. I just recommend staying away from the down and disregarding any assurances they try to give you about the quality of it.

So of course it wouldn't be in your recent communication. I did, in fact, reach out to you after living with the smell for a few weeks. Your representative told me that there was nothing they could do and that the smell would go away. So don't say you wish you had been contacted. I had visited many furniture stores in South OC looking for new living room furniture; I was disappointed as I didn’t find the selection or quality I was looking for. Luckily, I found the Sofa Shop in SJC and was stunned by their choices and options (custom sizes, 1 large seating cushion vs several small ones, huge selection of fabrics and colors). We visited their stores several times until we finalized our purchase. During our visits, we met the owner Jim and several Design Consultants; we were pleasantly surprised by the help, guidance and objective feedback we received throughout the process. Any questions and concerns were addressed professionally and with patience. The staff went above and beyond in providing customer service; they even let us take home several fabric samples to help make our final decision! The delivery company was also very professional and worked hard and diligently to carry the new sectional into our home! The experience was very pleasant and professional and we are stunned that nobody every tried to push us to close the sale! I had a sofa custom made here ( strange size room) probably a bit over a year ago looks ok but even after we went through and paid to upgrade cushions through them ( customer pay) then had another company upgrade cushions a third time.... I cannot even sit on this thing ( causes me major pain) the back is too straight up and down or something ? Most uncomfortable couch I have ever seen and non returnable because it was built to scale of our room. Sorry guys I won’t be back...
