AVOID AVOID AVOID. I didn't mind paying their extravagant prices, they are far higher than anyone else, because I thought I was paying for the workmanship. When they charged me over 600.00 replace the the head of my wedding ring, I blindly paid. My ring has been full of fluff and hair ever since. They "fixed" it twice and then told me that was the best it gets. I now wear the stone on the inside of my palm because it catches everything. I cant even enjoy it. They also broke another ring, didn't inform me, quoted me 1200.00 to fix it, telling me it needed a complete over haul and just blindly hoped I would pay without actually seeing the ring. I almost did it then decided it was too steep and asked for the ring back. (Now I know why it needed an overhaul!) I don't think they expected me to ask for it back they just handed it to me in many pieces in a bag. I would have been more understanding if they had at least the courtesy to inform me rather than try to be sneaky. By the time I went in there the 3rd time, I was suffering anxiety attacks even having to go back but I felt like I paid a lot for my repair and it should have been done right. I would avoid. It's apparently not what it once was when her father ran it. Also, ask about a guarantee on your repairs. Over all terrible experience.
P2-Amanda, I have had many rings in my lifetime just like all women, they don't walk around with hair and fluff in their rings EVERY DAY. Odd, that's just a problem with this ring. Other jewlers have looked at it and explained why it does this with these prefabed heads you use. As far as the ring you broke. All you had to do was tell me. You didn't even have the guts to do that. You wanted to charge me 950.00 (before tax) to fix a ring you broke that I subsequently had fixed for 150.00 at diamond design in Arroyo Grande. If you think I drive a half an hour from home because I don't know what I'm talking about, you are sorely mistaken. I'm sorry I...
Read moreI am thoroughly impressed by this business. My (now-husband) and I visited this shop for engagement rings. Not only was I immediately impressed with their gorgeous pieces (one of which I am now wearing, and to which NOTHING compared at other jewelry stores!), but their customer service is AMAZING. First of all, Marnee (sp?) helped us when we were looking. There was no pressure to buy at all--you can tell the staff really want you to pick something you LOVE. Marnee was very patient with all the things I wanted to look at and all my questions (and I took a LONG time). She was very easy going and a pleasure to work with, and made finding "THE ring" a relaxed experience. What she couldn't answer she asked Amanda, who promptly and thoroughly answered my questions. All the staff are very knowledgable, but they're also PASSIONATE about what they do and even about the way gems are formed. They are all very friendly as well. I don't remember his name but the older gentleman is full of tips for care for jewelry and is really concerned with your purchase holding up well. What really floored me was when I was arranging to pick up my wedding band and newly cleaned engagement ring, I was having trouble coordinating my schedule with the shop's, so Amanda and her husband HAND-DELIVERED my rings to my house, after hours!!! I was SO impressed and felt so special having them take such time and effort to get the rings to me in such a convenient way. They had deep-cleaned the engagment ring and re-rhodiumed it (sp?) for FREE so it literally looked brand-new for the wedding: not only shiny, but not the faintest scratch, not even on the bottom of the ring. I've dealt with Amanda the most and I can honestly say she feels like a new friend. Also, we got a good deal on the diamond we went with, which allowed us to get a higher carat stone than we were in the market for. I HIGHLY recommend this business to anyone shopping...
Read moreJust wanted to say how amazing Garden Street Goldsmiths is and how amazing their team is. Amanda and David are nothing but kind, down to earth and trustworthy. If you want to avoid the cold, commercialized industry that jewelry shopping can be; this is the place to go. If you want jewelry that fits the people you are and tells the story of how it took to get you to that point, this is the place. Their jewelry is beautiful, that’s a give in. But the way they treat you will make you want to come back again. If you’re on the market for jewelry in SLO, you’ll probably see that there are a lot of options popping up. Check the other places out if you want but this is a must stop place to see if it’s the right fit for you. There’s a reason why GSG has been in business for decades. They take care of their customers, they do quality work and have quality products, and all their marketing is through word of mouth because the experience with them is top notch. I don’t know how you can give them a poor review. The only thing I can imagine is that person has a poor review of themselves and they are projecting...
