Geek Squad — Local services in San Luis Obispo

I don't want to leave a negative review, but I am incredibly disappointed with the state in which my tower was returned to me upon my last visit. I'm giving 2 stars because every time I've gone into the store, the people working at the counter have been pleasant and I've usually had fine experiences with laptops I've brought in. However, I brought in my tower for overheating issues and opted to get it cleaned while it was there since I didn't have the time to handle it myself. Immediately upon getting it back and plugging it in, it had a variety of problems that were not there before that made my tower borderline unusable at times. When I opened my tower with a friend, we found that my GPU, CPU, power unit, and rear fan were all not plugged back in all the way. These are pieces that should not be jiggled loose by the short car ride back home. There needs to be better quality control to assure that people do not receive their systems back in this condition, especially since most people using this service don't have the technical knowledge to identify these problems...

Buying a new computer because your old trusted one refuses to turn on anymore - can be a daunting task ..... Enter the Geek Squad in San Luis Obispo. I was lucky to be next in line for their Tech "Jay" who was quite impressive. He is extremely knowledgeable and has a fast "processing speed" - understanding what you need and what products they have to fulfill your need. But best of all, not losing any of my files transferring my data over from the dead computer to the new one. Phew... and though I miss my old computer, I do love my new...

Geek Squad service is now in-store only. The store is very loud and the customer and Geek Squad Team Member are out in the store at a counter. Also, the phone numbers extensions at my local Best Buy usually do not work. The Geek Squad folks are fine, but getting an appointment with them and then dealing with the environmental overload of sound is extremely difficult. I would not recommend buying a computer from Best Buy unless you have a good computer...
